An Embarassment of Riches

Hey Gang.

Last year, me and my team came within one goalie win of the Championship. Ironically, my goalie, Matt Murray was injured against Philly by Wayne Simmonds - the guy who I was facing had Wayne Simmonds. It was a painful loss. If Murray stayed, I would have been the Champeen.

My forwards are pretty average of the road, and want to upgrade my firepower. I've done a different strategy than everyone else in my league,and I am jacked with goalies. I own

Holtby
Elliott
Allen
Gibson
Hellebuyck
Murray.

We start 2 goalies nightly in my roto league. With having so many goalies - Im losing on forwards getting goals.

I've offered to put Holtby OTB. Arguably - the best goalie in the league.

I've gone to the guy who owns McDavid (who has a premium pricetag) and he wants Holtby and Murray.

Two questions here.
1)What's the value of Holtby vs McDavid / Holtby vs anyone else?
2)Any different strategy I should keep with trading goalies?

With the four you have left over, I would definitely be comfortable with that price tag for McD.

It's a very high price, but if you want firepower like that, you know you'll have to pay it. Argue that you are giving up the top goalie and the top goalie prospect to see if you can get some sort of decent throw-in.

Also, if you resign yourself to trading those two, you might be able to run up the price elsewhere without overpaying. I might shop them a little.

The only trades that actually happen that involve McDavid are overpayments... so you might consider it an overpayment... but that's the going value.

I would explore different options with your lesser goalies first.

If all else fails, I like the McDavid deal for you. You have the depth.
