Draft Lottery Day is Here!

Thought it would be a good idea to start a thread focusing on the draft lottery that will be held tonight.

Who do you want to win the lottery?

For me, I'm torn (but not too much). In the WHL (our keeper league) the bottom 14 teams in finish during the regular season are tied to their corresponding NHL team. In my case, I am tied to BOS who has a 1.0% chance of landing the number 1, 2 or 3rd pick. So I am really hoping for BOS to defy the odds and surprise everyone.

The hockey gods also like to punish me and whoever I cheer for tend to loose. Case in point - the Leafs throughout my life. So I am also rooting for EDM (hoping the hockey gods help me out).

But my heart wants - no, needs the Maple Leafs to bring home the top pick. I firmly believe the new management and culture within the organization has pleased the hockey gods and the team will be rewarded tonight.

I watched the lottery last year because it was McDavid. The kid is generational.

This years draft will be a good one but no generational talents coming through (not that we can foresee at this point). I dont think this draft lottery will hold the same drama because of that.

That being said, I hope the Oilers win it so we can not only get the BPA (or even better, make some trades to improve our team), we get to hear all the Oiler-haters whine and cry some more.

While there is no generational talent, I'm watching to see if Edmonton wins it or not. You have to think there would be anarchy if the Oilers won again

we use the nhl's results (bottom 5)as my 2 dynasty leagues method towards our lotto so its always fun .

#1 seed hasnt fared too well lately , thats for sure

I'm with you Pit Bulls, I will be among the slew of pitiful Leaf fans glued to their TV's hoping for the Leaf card to turn up with the golden background. He may not be a McDavid but Matthews sure looks like a good one.

I am tied to Columbus in one of my leagues so that would be my backup team.

I'd like to see the Leafs win it. I like what they're doing over there and it would really make their team scary in the future. Nylander, Rielly, Marner and Matthews would be tough to beat

C'mon Winnipeg or Columbus!! I want to see a team win that I actually see play so I pull for the US teams or teams in the Hawks division. While it's changed a little since I've gotten the NHL Channel back in Nov, I rarely ever see the Canadian teams play. They are just not on TV unless it is the playoffs. This was one of the main reasons I didn't want McDavid to go to Edmonton.

just keep feeding the Oilers 1st overalls, they need it the most. besides eventually one of them will pull a lindros and refuse to report, that would be pretty funny.

i think mcdavid was pretty close to doing it, you can tell he was contemplating it after hearing the news:





as a leaf fan i'd be really happy with 1-3. don't really care if we lose 1st overall, chances are good we get stamkos so adding an elite winger like Laine/Puljujarvi would be a better fit anyways. Kadri already has #2C locked and Nylander can bump him when he's ready.

that being said I think whoever gets 1st overall will get a monster offer from Arizona. the Oilers winning it would be the perfect fit, as they seem like the only lottery team that doesn't need Matthews.

I could see Arizona making a big offer for Matthews if they don't win the lottery. Matthews could really help grow the game out there
