Now this is interesting. I came into this topic expecting it to be a bit of a discussion, only to find that everyone would take Crosby no questions asked. Well I have to ask the question. Why is Crosby heads and shoulders above Tavares and Subban in this deal? Tavares is a top 5 (or at least 10) forward in most formats. Subban is a top 5 (or even top 3) D-man. We all just accept that Crosby is so much better than the rest, but is that still true? He certainly hasn't done anything in the last season and a quarter to show that. He's almost 30 after all, and it's quite possible that he's becoming just a regular elite player. Perhaps the fantasy GMs taking this approach to The Kid are the ones who will get a jump on extracting maximum value from him while the rest of us are scrambling to acquire a player who is past his prime.
The common argument for why Crosby is clearly the best player in all trades is that he could go off for 120-130 points in any given season. Well folks... maybe he can't.
