Has anyone used this app before?

I am heading to Chicago Sunday-Wednesday (for a Hawks game in the Alumni Suite Sunday vs the Oilers) and then to FABTECH at the McCormick place.
I will have a car but I don't want to drive to the game Sunday night, the guys on HF boards actually suggested using UBER to catch a ride back to my hotel.

I linked it with my paypal account and set everything up, but I have never used it before.

Does anyone have any experience with it?

Uber is awesome. Super easy and at least around here where I am (Long Island) it's cheaper than a cab most of the time. I use it more when I'm out of town. Was a lifesaver in college.

Used Uber for the 1st time in Toronto last week to get to the Leafs game, waited less than 5 mins for pickup in crazy traffic, and it was cheaper and quicker than taxi/car service..... plus used code for $20 off, total was only $5.

UBER. IS. AMAZING.

So much better than a cab for so many reasons:
1. Cheaper;
2. Easier to call ride, you don't need to know your address;
3. Easier to pay, credit card is automatically charged, no need to fumble with cash;
4. Most drivers are friendly and cars are in great shape;
5. More secure, the app tracks your driver and the exact route, so if you have a complaint or lose something you know exactly who the driver is. Further, less risk of getting long-hauled in a foreign City. I was long-hauled (I truly believe by accident) on one trip, I contacted uber, who had the route taken, and was credited a partial refund.
6. [add on edit] All drivers are rated after all rides and you get to see a driver's rating before pickup. I believe this contributes to generally friendly drivers relative to cabbies.

I've used uber all over the world and will use it everytime over a cab if it's available.

You'll see the driver on a map on your phone in real time coming to you. It tells you what car they have and the license plate and their name and a headshot. They usually text you when they get there. They'll ask (or should) for your name to confirm they're picking up the right person and off you go. Cashless, smooth, drivers are all nice in my experience. When you get there you'll instantly get an email receipt from Uber with a map of your trip and the $ breakdown. CS is really good too if you have a problem.

Pretty much. When the Uber driver accepts your fare request, the app will notify you on your phone and give you the driver's name and the make of his vehicle and a picture of both.

The driver will also be able to text you if he can't find you. The app will also show you how far away he is from you, so when he's getting to your location, you'll know it.

Uber will inform you of the price before you accept the ride. There is a chance of surge pricing if you are taking it from the Hawks game, given that the demand for rides will be high at that time.

You may wish to look into the insurance. One of the reasons Uber is cheaper in many places is because the drivers have no commercial insurance, or ridiculous policies that are under-uninsured. If you get hurt in an accident, and the driver does not have insurance (or insufficient insurance)...well, that would not be so good.

I love uber and having been using it for awhile. I use it almost weekly here in Edmonton. Used to I'm Toronto for the Jays games and it was unreal. Plan on using it as my primary means is transport in the states this week. Cant say enough good things about it

I love the idea of Uber, but in my city there’s no registered drivers, or not on a Friday/Saturday night when I use cabs.

The Taxi services are like having Rogers being the only cell company in your city. No one is there to combat the service; you’re forced to use them.

Uber was AMAZING!

Uber was $10 on the way to the Blackhawks Game and $12 on the way back.
The driver on the way back must have literally just thrown his joint out the window before we found each other in the UC madness lol.
The McCormick place doesn't let UberX drivers pick up so I had to use UberBlack which was a bit more ($3 lol).

From my Hotel to the McCormick Place was $8 on the way there and $12 on the way back, parking was $30 to use the McCormick Place parking garage.

Overall, VERY satisfied with Uber and will 100% use it again whenever I have the chance to!
