I take this, right? I won three years ago and came close the past two years, but I'm not winning this year. So, I'm thinking I retool and this is a good way to move forward. Works for the other side because he's contending this year and with McDavid out...

I think it's a fair price for McDavid, and I'll bet you could get more than you paid for McDavid by the end of the year. So the value is there.

Your goaltending will be weak afterwards, and I don't see a lot of depth in your keepers. I'd ask for a pick or two; or swap picks (his higher [better] picks for your lower [worse] picks). Since it sounds like this was offered to you and he's in win now mode, he just might be okay with offering some picks. Try and get picks with every trade and continue the rebuild with solid youth. McDavid is definitely a cornerstone!

Thats an easy yes. Already a very good deal no reason to try for more and lose the deal. You can adress goaltending after you got McJesus.

Yes, I agree... your team isn't close to contending.
It's a fair trade in a 12-team, keep 14... to get McDavid.

Additionally, do whatever it takes to land yourself the next kid: Austin Matthews.
Be sure you know your league's rules for landing the #1 overall pick for next summer - because he's gonna have a similar awesome upside as McDavid.

The summers of 2015 (Eichel/McDavid) and 2016 (Matthews) is the best time to be a bottom-dweller since the Malkin/Ovechin/Crosby years.
