Completed trade - Boychuk for Virtanen +++

I feel like I have a championship team again even though I currently sit in 3rd place.

I wanted the flexibility in my lineup to be able to make more daily call ups and bring up Klingberg, Parayko, Jaskin, Nilsson, Darling (and now Virtanen) a little more often.

That is why I traded Boychuk for Virtanen, a 3rd, a 3rd and a 4th. I had lots of Dmen (start 4) and I had 9 of them that are legitimately getting me points.

This trade allows me to get 2 rookies (under 82GP) into my lineup more frequently instead of constantly only having room to bring up one.

I know I traded away points, but now I can always get 2 "extra" players into my lineup instead of 1 and leaving points inactive.

That was my objective. Plus I added some decent picks. Plus plus, Klingberg won't be a minor in 10 games or so therefore I have a spot for him as well.

Make sense? Or did I give points away for nothing…?

Great deal for a contender to continue contending for many years. You gave up a mid-tier/average Dman for a potential multi cat stud young power forward along with 3 additional assets, I say a huge win on your side here.

Thanks Nucks. I take it you have seen Virtanen play so I value your opinion a bit more as far as he goes and what you see him becoming.

Excellent asset management Notch! Klingberg and Parayko are helping you immediately, so Boychuk was indeed expandable.
With all the depth you have on defence (how is that even possible when you start 4?), you just secured useful assets that will help you down the road if you need help elsewhere.
In your set-up, I suspect 3rd and 4th rounders can get you some underrated but solid pieces to keep your contending team in shape next season.
You can also piece together some astute offers with those picks in order to move up.

I think this was a great deal. If you had such a logjam, great job turning that into useful picks for next year. Like rufio said, good asset management

Yeah I have now seen him play many times this year, and some of his Junior days and certainly looking like the real deal. Obviously time will tell and is still very early, but longterm looks like will be a terrific multi cat player. Good speed, willing to play physical, great hands and quick release. Has all the tools just needs to translate into the pro game but learning from consummate pros like the Sedins should do him well. Good thing they moved out the party guys like Kassian!
