I am a Flyers fan, and do not like Crosby as a player, but I disagree with the fact of turning 28 meaning he is passed his prime. I guess it is perspective of what prime means...

I consider Prime to be the 5 middle years of a players career where he plays his best hockey..... not necessarily the players best scoring year.

I would consider the Prime of the Prime age of most NHLers is 26-27.... so he is one year outside of the absolute top age...

Is he on the decline? likely, is he passed his prime... no. A player like Crosby will have an extended prime... my guess is until he is 31.

    I'm thinking pmorrow's comment was a tad tongue-in-cheek, PenguinHunter.

So you are saying he was joking? And I went out of my way to defend the penguins captain? Does anyone know how hard that was for me.

Hold on, I think I should go toss some offers at Crosby owners.

Vetoable - no, but that particular guy who got Crosby in this trade is also likely buying all kinds of lottery tickets right about now - talk about hitting jackpot, of the NHL variety anyways.

I don't think it's a crazy trade. He traded the best player the last 10 years and an injury riddled Skinner on a terrible team for some young guys that are just entering their prime, who have already showed some great things.

Hall is surrounded by other great offensive talents in Edm, once they get some defense they might turn things around.
Barkov is in a similar situation and expected to break out this year.
Hamilton is already proven to be a solid defender and just traded to a pretty talented team.

Crosby will continue to be great for years to come. But his numbers have slowly declined over the last few seasons as he's aged. Why not trade him away before he gets too old and more difficult to trade.
Skinner. Lots of skill, but those concussions really worry me. I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole.

haha I think the "further more he is on pace for 0 points" may have been the queue for sarcasm here

Damn that's pretty bad. No where near as bad as my Ovechkin trade a few years ago lol. Classic case of panicking too early

    For what reason exactly?

I hate this way of thinking. The return may not be what you would want, but it is what the Crosby owner wanted.

Who is anyone to tell someone what they should receive in trade for their player.

    End Rant.... Sorry.

    Hi Everyone,

I just saw Crosby and Thorthon for Perry, Kuchrov, Poulliot, and a late first rounder (10 overall). I personally do not think it is enough.

That is just an awful deal. Don't see why people are panicking on Crosby so much. Its a mere handful of games and he is still only 28 years old. All players go through slumps and who knows he may be playing with an injury. Crosby will be Crosby soon enough

While I think the Crosby side clearly wins, I don't think it should be vetoed. Just because the Crosby owner panicked doesn't mean the rest of the league should be able to stop the trade. I'm sure the Crosby owner is thinking he got a good package

This is one the trades 3 yrs from now one GM will be boasting about it. Either the guy who got Crosby will be saying, “I gave up a Band-Aid boy and 2 throw ins for CROSBY!!!” or “Best trade ever was getting Hall, Best 2-way center in the conference Barkov, and Hamilton for Crosby!”

Depends on the teams make up if I like the trade or not. Full keeper, and a team filled with youth (Ehlers, Pastrnak, Domi, Duclair, McDavid, Yak, Lindholm, Larkin) I like the idea of selling off your best player for more youth. IF his team is bad, might as well sell Crosby and buy more time until they think they can win.

Agreed. Barkov is also showing he is the 100+ player we have all been waiting for.
