Jones or Talbot

I lost Craig Anderson on waivers before the season due to salary, so I'm now left with the goaltending you see in my sig. It's a start 1 weekly so Freddie Andersen is fine, but he's shown a propensity to get hurt and obviously Lehner is currently injured long-term and Darling is a backup. So if Freddie goes down, it could sink my season. I'm targeting a cheap 2nd goalie for this reason, and these two stick out.

I talked to the Jones owner and offered Lehner plus a couple prospects of his choice. He turned it down and said he wanted a higher end player....I'm thinking Lehner and Trouba would be my next offer, but even that might not be enough.

I messaged the Talbot owner and offered Lehner and Vince Dunn. He has a personal interest in Dunn and he's a solid prospect anyway. The owner is interested and is taking a longer look at it. Even if I have to up the offer a bit, I'm ok with it as the starting point is already so low.

So here's my actual question....I like Jones better, especially with salary involved. He's locked in at 3 million for this year plus two more. Talbot is a UFA after this season. If I got Talbot, and he has a good year as well as Andersen, I could end up with two goalies making 5 million or more. On the other hand, is the salary certainty and possible upgrade with Jones over Talbot worth the higher price I'd have to pay in trade?

I would try to get Jones. His contract is in place and he is going to be awesome

I like Jones the most here too. Talbot is a bit of an unknown on a rebuilding team and will be UFA next year. Jones is a bit of an unknown too, but his salary is locked in, San Jose is a good team, and Stalock hasn't shown signs that he has the ability to push out Jones from the #1 job.

Exactly. There is always the chance Talbot regresses a lot and is barely average
