NHL 09 Review

Well, my roommated walked into the room last night holding the game we waited for for about 2 months once 2k8 got old and noticed 2k9 would suck. We threw it on the 42\'\' hd tv and I must say it is amazing!!! I really like the game play but it is harder to actually play the game with the new controls but it seems like it will be easy to get used to. The best new button is the stick check feature IMO. There are a ton of teams including international and AHL teams. Overall, I have to say for 360 it is the best one yet. Drop your gamertag and my roommate and I will definately play sometime. I gotta find his tag first.

Hey my gamer tag is Bass56, so hope to see you on. I just got my copy a couple of hours ago but have yet to try it out (my xbox is somewhere else at the moment).
I was wondering if you knew if there was a fantasy draft feature as they had in most other versions except 08.

Ok so I was not able to find any fantasy draft option, and the gameplay is good and all, but it\'s almost exactly as the 08 version. I mean I mastered that game and now I feel that when I play 09, there\'s nothing more I can do...

Hmmm, wish they could have added that fantasy draft feature, it would have given me something different, cause right now I feel like I\'m playing 08 with a roster update!

Oh well, there\'s always online gameplay

Overall, this is still a really good game!

I got it a few days ago - a few minor improvements from 08 for sure.

The goalies are much faster which makes it a bit harder to score, but they do flop more.

The pokecheck is less effective, and the stick lift is a good addition.

The hitting is way better too.

The dynasty mode is identical which is lame, but they only like to add a few features each year.

Looks amazing in HD, too bad I don\'t have one of those things (yet).

The EA Sports League is where it\'s at for me. I\'ve been playing so much of it on our team with some buddies, it\'s soooooo fun.

I used to be an EA game long ago than switched to 2K during the lockout (it was only $20!). I got fed up with last year\'s 2K game because of all the bugs in franchise mode so I ended up picking up 08 late in the season and haven\'t looked back. 09 is a lot of fun, especially online!
