Thats a really tough one. Id probably do it just to get more stabel in goaltending. But loosing Buff is a real killer. Would try and counter with something to get some PIM and Hits back. Hes asking for 4 keepers and ur only getting 3 back. Try to get a little more ar least

I think I would be inclined to keep the MacK side here. Tarasenko hupe train has left the station, and MacKinnon is an elite talent on the upswing. Byuglien is the kicker here, and while this trade is probably fair value, I'd want to keep the youngsters who are improving, as opposed to Malkin side. He's a depreciating asset at this point, and he will be 30 years old next summer.

No concern with his goaltending at all?

I can see why Byfuglien has to be part of the package to make it work both ways, but, as mentioned already, you need to get someone else back who can get you some hits and PIMs. As it is, I'd keep what you have if you have to include Byfuglien. Maybe you could try a Tarasenko or MacKinnon and Lehtonen and a pick (or someone else who would be a keeper for him, but not you) in exchange for Benn or Malkin and Quick, but I don't think that type of offer swings the pendulum too far in the other direction from where it is now.

Definitely try to shore up your goaltending, especially in light of Niemi's signing in Dallas.

Yep i would make that deal were I in your shoes... and I'm a monster fan of both Tarasenko and MacKinnon. It's actually upgrading from Lehtonen to Quick that seals it for me.

It would leave you with keeping:

Sid, Geno, OV and Benn as your 4F
    Karlsson, J.Carlson as your 2D
    Rask, Quick as your 2G

That's a pretty formidable group to go into the draft with... plus you've upgraded your 4th to a 3rd. That's just the reality of a limited keeper - you just can't keep all your young talent and compete year-in year-out.

Next season, Geno and Benn will almost assuredly outpace Tank & Mack. Quick will almost assuredly outpace Lehtonen. And I think J.Carlson is actually a pretty solid plan B for losing Buff.

This sets you up to win it all this year.

It's a fair deal. I'd prefer the Tank/Mack side but it's really close.
