Dmitry Orlov said on Saturday that he has a lot more flexibility in his wrist.
Orlov underwent off-season surgery on his wrist which was broken during the World Championships in May. It is a lot better than two weeks ago according to Orlov so he could be getting close to a return. Oct 19 - 9:59 AM

The Capitals have officially recalled Dmitry Orlov from his conditioning loan in Hershey. Expected to join the team on this trip.

At this point, what is this guy's upside points-wise?
Once upon a time, it was exciting, but....
Carlson is clearly the man there, but Green could move on and Niskanen is...well...Niskanen.

Considering he's only 24, I think his upside is still legit. Obviously it all depends on how he is used.

Being a left-handed shot helps Orlov's case. Orpik and Alzner are not really offensive players and no studs to begin with. Next season, Orlov could easily work his way all the way to the top pairing with Carlson. Orpik should really be on the 3rd pair, it's unfortunate if they keep giving him big minutes just because of his contract.
Mike Green obviously needs to leave Washington first but there should be PP time available for Orlov after that. Ovie&Carlson on PP1, Orlov&Niskanen on PP2.
