Interesting point on Sabres goalie needs, Hammond and Tim Murray, from LeBrun.
Pierre LeBrun was on Ottawa’s TSN 1200 on Wednesday afternoon.
On what he thinks the market might be for Andrew Hammond - were the Senators not able to lock him before July 1 - and the possibilities of Buffalo or Edmonton:
Source: TSN 1200/ Transcript: Nichols on Hockey“I was going to say, I would start with Buffalo because Bryan Murray will tell you this, that Tim Murray was instrumental in signing Andrew Hammond. And it just so happens the Sabres need goaltending. So I wouldn’t be far-fetched to suggest that Tim Murray would probably have an eye there. Although Anders Lindback is certainly trying to signal his case right now with the Buffalo Sabres, playing well of late.
“But yeah, all the obvious teams. I think Edmonton, San Jose, Dallas – those are all teams that need goaltending.
“Now again, I have no idea whether they’d have interest in Andrew Hammond per say, but I do know they’re looking for goaltending in the off-season. All of those teams I just mentioned, among others.
“I just don’t think it’s going to get to July 1 guys, unless the contract demands are out of whack – which would surprise me.
“I think that the only play here for Ottawa is to sign him after the year and then worry about the three-headed goalie monster after that because at the end of the day, it’s asset management. You don’t lose an asset for nothing, if you don’t have to. Sign the asset and then worry about how you’re managing the extra asset and get something in return.
“That’s really the way to go, I think.”

Hammond really should be thanking Cory Conacher. Without that trade happening Bishop would be in line before him. Hammond’s start to his career is too similar to Lalimes for me and I’d prolly take such a cautious approach with him. If I was Buffalo I’d take the chance at least because you have Lindback to cover up a mistake. It’s also not like their going for next yr so they can take a couple of chances in goal right now.

Update on O'Connor stirrings per Dreger via Nichols on Hockey...
Darren Dreger was on Vancouver’s TSN 1040 on Tuesday morning.
On what he’s hearing on Matt O’Connor and if there’s a leader in the clubhouse as far as signing him:
Source: TSN 1040/ Transcript: Nichols on Hockey“Well, no. There’s probably a short list of five teams and it’s tough to say. That list of five might change from week-to-week too .Buffalo seems to be consistently in that mix, primarily because he’s going to get an opportunity to play.
“And as we saw the Toronto Maple Leafs do with Casey Bailey... assuming that O’Connor’s team drops out of the college post-season picture, you could see Matt O’Connor play in the National Hockey League. If they do so, they burn a year of eligibility off. But it’s still a list of 15, 16, 17 teams that are still showing interest in him.
“The agent Todd Reynolds told me – well, advisor – told me last week that Matt still wants to meet with a few teams once his college season is over.
“So you’ve got Baun in the mix and Matt O’Connor. But those two guys are going to get signed.”

OMFG tell me this is a cruel joke

See the text at the very bottom -- specifically, what the capitalized letters spell out beginning with the word "Although" (which I've bolded here since the red font didn't show up in the cut and paste):
Crisis avoided, methinks.NHL and OHL officials hope that Although the Player is Ready to play In Linköping, he will Find Out the OHL’s Lifestyle Suits him better and he’ll be back for the draft next year.
