Justin Abdelkader - he is a solid contributor across the board and his offense has arrived
Abdelkader has never totaled more than 28 points though with the way he started this season its hard to see why. While a significant part of that newfound offensive success can be contributed to the fact that Abdelkader’s shooting percentage this season is almost double his career mark (.074), it’s not the only reason he deserves a long look in fantasy formats. Abdelkader is currently playing on the same line as high-end offensive forwards Gustav Nyquist and Henrik Zetterberg, and he’s seeing ample time on the man advantage for Detroit.” Twenty goals and 45 points are within reach, as long as Abdelkader continues to be deployed alongside such talented teammates. and averages 2:29 PP-TOI per game

When you get powerplay time with one of the most skilled players in the league Datsyuk it is no surprise you get some power-play points; all of Abdelkaders power-play production has come with Nyquist and or Datsyuk on the ice. His first quarter of play he scored 14 points in 20 GP; these are numbers you will rarely see out of him again, it was nice while it lasted but all good things end in Fantasy Hockey. Throughout the second quarter and the current one he has 14 points in 25 games played, on a steady downturn from the hot start. I am expecting him to average 0.62 points per game for the rest of his career in Detroit as long as he keeps getting power-play time he could be a 40-50 point forward for a few more seasons, if his shots on net stay the same that is.

He will always have value in deep roto leagues with his Hits, Plus/Minus and Penalty Minutes always being solid year in year out, even with his recent focus on scoring points.

Except that one obvious outlier with the 0.34 penalty’s per game last season which I believe was because he focused on staying on the ice with Detroit going through organizational changes with a lot of AHL players getting called up and given good chances to succeed; he didn’t want to get sent to the coach’s dog house. Abdelkader is a consistent depth forward for their fantasy teams and will provide across the board production at a cheap cost if salary’s count in your league.
Do not undervalue him now that his offense has dropped off.
