Anyone catch the first few episodes that aired a few days ago? Pretty cool so and pretty well done...maybe Disney really can make a good Star Wars film?

The upcoming Star Wars movies are shaping up to be very good from a technical standpoint. No more greenscreens everywhere. Most of everything is real prop work. It all hinges on getting a good script. The actor choices have been very good so far, at least from their previous work. I'm optimistic!

With that said, I haven't watched this. I haven't even watched the Clone Wars show yet. Do I need to watch that to get the most out of Rebels?

I haven't watched it, but I plan to someday. I watched The Clone Wars, which was OK. It had better episodes towards the end.

Clone Wars was kinda 'meh' but watchable
Rebels is better and has promise I think but I'm finding the Disney animation distracting already (the character expressions in particular), that and the same themes and tropes they love to recycle in everything they do. It will all depend on the writing I think, so far it's OK, if they keep on the same course and resist the urge to keep inserting every known character in the Star Wars universe into the scenes it might have a chance.
