Mackinnon only played 11 minutes @ Pittsburgh. 14 minutes @ Buffalo. He was getting closed to 16/17 minutes earlier in the season.
Is this anything we should be worried about?
There are still some major concerns on D, Iggy had a wide (and I mean WIDE) open chance in the slot in the 1st and didn't convert.... That easily would have changed the complexion of the game. The Bruins seemed to be pressing more after that.
Was impressed with Landeskog getting the misconduct from Lucic in the second and not getting into a fight... Landy is a big boy but I'd rather him be a captain and make the right decisions. Not fighting was the right decision for sure.

One day I will quit fantasy hockey, today is not that day.
man I love watching Duchene highlights.
and wow do i ever despise the colorado broadcasters.
such a dilemma.
argh, Roy putting Mackinnon back on 3rd line C even with the Tanguay injury. I cant wait for when Stastny walks so Mackinnon is entrenched as the 2nd line C with better linemates. hopefully colorado uses more of their cap space

I want Stastny to stay, he's playing well this year.

Elliott recalled and likely to fill Barrie's spot. until he's healthy.

Apparently Tanguay was instrumental in getting Iginla to sign:

A good discussion from a local Avs blogger I follow on Twitter, he has some good points here about the Avs prospects. The prospect cupboard may be somewhat bare (30th in Pronman's analysis, 28th in Hockey's Future), but as is noted the guys they've picked have developed quickly enough to be good NHL players.

i am going to try and follow the Avs a little closer this year (my sens dont look like they'll be much to cheer about).
they really seem to be picking up steam and are exciting to watch from what i saw last season. this and i just picked up Duchene and EJ in the offseason, so i'll have an excuse....

Patrick Roy says the top two lines will be this:
Landeskog-MacKinnon-Tanguay
O'Reilly-Duchene-Iginla
It's about damn time!! The Avs have looked horrible all preseason but finally pull off a win heading into the regular season! Time to ramp it up!
Where S.Elliott will play this year? AHL but 1st call up?
Points only keeper league
7 teams
28 keepers
Weekly line up: 12 F / 6 D / 2 G
Goalie stats: W=2 / SO=2
What's going on in Colorado? I know last year was'nt normal for them but they are really struggling offensively.
Is it the lack of another good offensive D-man?
Is it a problem of system?
I own Matt Duchene and he is on pace for 45 points.
I was hoping for at least 70 points for him this year.
It hurts.
Keeper's league, points only, 24 teams league Skaters: 1 pt for goal and 1 pt for assist, Goalie, 2 pts for win, + 2 pts for SO
5 of our top 7 SOG leaders are down Sh% this season…
Mack -3.9% 5.7g
Landy -5.2% 7.2g
Duchene +0.5% -0.6g
EJ +4.7% -5.4g
Iggy -0.7% 0.7g
ROR -5.1% 5.2g
Barrie -8.1% 6.8g
I mean, EJ and Barrie are almost a wash, but even if you factor in Tanguay’s 21% shooting and him scoring 2.7g more than last year, we’re still out about 17 goals. Which would bump us from 22nd to the bottom of top 10 in the NHL in GF. Last year we were 4th, scoring at a 10.1% clip on 29.5 shots/game, this year we’ve regressed to the mean at 8.6% on 28.9 shots/game. If we’re struggling at putting the puck in the net we need to increase the quantity of shots we produce, which the team has done so in some games recently, against BOS, TBL…
In a nut shell, shooting % is down, we're shooting the puck less, and when you watch the games the team is trying to hard for the perfect play, and the nice set up. Although they've been unlucky this year, if you watched the Bruins game, a couple of posts that should have ended the game in OT. The biggest issue is still getting bogged down in their own zone, and not breaking out with posession of the puck. Too many guys on the back end who panic with the puck and chip it out (Guenin, Holden, Stuart, etc.) Besides EJ, Barrie, and Redmond there isn't enough composure on the back end to look up and hit a forward with a pass to start the break out, or get around a forechecker before pushing the puck up the ice with control.
