I'd take JT then Giroux. JT is just getting started and the Islanders will only get better with time - one hopes.
So our league is doing a restart and I've drawn the 3rd pick. Obviously crosby going first and I have heard stamkos going second. Just wondering who people would take. We have the normal yahoo categories in a roto league. My 2 I'm going back and forth on are Tavares and giroux. Malkin is obviously a consideration but he's slightly older and has shown to constantly get hurt. Ovechkin a possibility as well. Thanks for any opinions in advance.

In a ROTO league with standard Yahoo categories (G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SOG) I would definitely be taking Ovechkin at #3. He's a very reliable (read: healthy) superstar who is going to give you stud #s in Goals, PPP, SOG, with good production in the remaining categories. People have really soured on Oven Chicken, but I'm not really sure why. Could be age? I'm not buying it, though. I'd take Ovechkin over JT or Giroux any day of the week.

I agree mounD if we had shots as a stat then ovechkin is def higher ranked. We don't have shots, I guess we took that category out.

I'd probably still be considering Ovechkin, but I think Tavares and Giroux have more compelling arguments in their favor. With Shots not being counted, that hurts Ovechkin's value a lot. JT's just coming into his prime, he's got some pieces around him, and he should be good for 30 goals, 85+ points, 25-30 PPP, and finally a decent +/- with competent goaltending on the Isles. If you want to go a bit 'safer,' Giroux might be a good choice. He should be good for 25g, 85+ points, 35-40 PPP, and he is a career plus-player. That's pretty much his ceiling, though. With Tavares you get a considerably higher ceiling in the longrun. I think I would take JT here, but only slightly ahead of OV/Malkin/Giroux. Malkin's value decreases a bit, given the fact that this is a ROTO-type format stressing the importance of year long totals.
It may be a small sacrifice in the short term, but in a few years' time hopefully you're already reaping the benefits.
My ranks would be:
Crosby
Stamkos
Tavares
Ovechkin
Giroux
Malkin

I would take Tavares at 3rd.
At the 3 spot with your categories, I would go with Tavares. Giroux would also be an excellent choice. If you're a betting man, Tyler Seguin should be in the discussion.
Thanks everyone. mounD your thoughts are pretty much exactly like mine. I think giroux is slightly safer and I like that he has dual eligibility. But I agree jt has the better upside and is younger. I can't go wrong was just wondering what a few others thought.
I am taking Malkin at #3 if it's my choice.
