In my opinion, you cannot fluke a 50+ goal season. You have to be a special talent to do it. You cannot teach skill like that, you either have it or you do not. Cheech has it. I\'m not expecting 50+, but 40 is a realistic possibility if he is healthy.

I believe the fluke is in the number 50.

He\'s a goal scorer but should never see 50 ever again.

40 is realistic but an outside chance.

Steve Yzerman made Ray freaking Sheppard a 52 goal scorer. Sometimes the playmakers are just that good

That\'s right, and Joe is that good.

Remember, Cheech has averaged 38 goals a season over the last 3 and last year he was quite hampered due to his recovery from surgery when he got 23. I like his chances at 40 very much.

Yeah, I don\'t think it\'s a stretch that Cheechoo gets 40 this year. He\'ll be healthy from the start of the season and with a new coach who will probably be more offensive-minded.

If Thornton plays like he should and the team actually pulls their weight a little more, then it doesnt matter if Jacques Lemaire & Lou Lamoriello coach the team. 40 goals should be no problem for Cheechoo as long as Thornton gets some support.

Not sure if anybody mentioned him as a big time dark horse but what about Michael Ryder? If he can\'t score playing with Savard or Bergeron, he\'s done!
I was gonna toss him out there playing with Savard...he\'s scored 30+ before and with the money they\'re paying him he\'ll have his chances!

Thornton is the constant. The coaches, the linemates and everything in between are the variables.

if cheechoo is as amazing as everyone thinks, he shouldn\'t have any problem getting to 40 again.

    He won\'t though.

    Karma for Shao.
