Who was put on his line in place of Semin during those games?
Just procastinating from Guide work and I'm on Carolina. But I noticed that Eric Staal had 43 points in 62 games when his linemate Semin was in the lineup. When Semin was hurt, Staal had 18 points in 17 games.

Looks like Ruutu and Skinner

So Ruutu is the guy who gets swapped in for Semin then? I am just wondering if it's a case of the player coming in doing a better job than Semin.
I think it was Angus who always promoted Semin's defensive acumen. Maybe that had something to do with it. Eric's +/- wasn't very pretty compared to Alex's.
Interesting stat, but 17 games a trend do not make. Semin is terrible to own in fantasy hockey.
God but Semin was good in Washinton though.
Perhaps he and Staal are just oil & water together? Great on their own, terrible linemates.

Do you guys forget two years ago? Staals sucking last year, had nothing to do with Semin. I don't buy the stats, or they are misleading. Semin is the only playmaking forward on the Canes (Lindholm will get there) and every other forward who played with him benefited.
I think that's just reading too much into things. Staal had a miserable first quarter and final quarter to the season but was productive during the middle 40 or so games. It just happens that Semin was hurt for half of those. Staal was productive for a lengthy stretch with Semin around.
I maintain that the issue with Staal last season was a lack of power play production. His even strength production was in line with his career numbers. If the PP is better so is he. Now Semin should theoretically help with the PP but for whatever reason he didn't. I blame the coaching. Nearly half of Staal's PP shifts came without Semin. That's just dumb.

Bang on. The answer is - Staal was bothered by a knee injury early on. By the time it started to feel better and he started rolling - bam - Semin suffered a concussion. Meanwhile, Tlusty entered the season recovering from a concussion and then when he was starting to roll he had appendicitis. I think this stat is a reflection of coincidence.
This line was stellar in 2012-13

it annoyed me how productive semin/estaal/tlusty was in the shortened season.
One day I will quit fantasy hockey, today is not that day.
