I would guess something around 66-72pts. Just my gut feeling.
What should we expect from this guy going forward points wise??

75 pts 30 goals 45 assists. I have a feeling he will have a great campaign and hopefuly pot more than 30
This is a tough one because if his SOG totals continue to trend downward he will be hard pressed to break 60pts. I do think he will get there but not much more so 60-65 is what I would expect.
Feeling a bounceback year. 75 points.

Hopefully the arrival of the new coach will give him some renewed jump. Let's not forget he had that awful knee injury thanks to Edler. I think you have to trust his consistency from his previous seasons: he returns to the 70 points plateau.
Aside from a new coach, what are the reasons people have for a bounceback year? Just curious if it's anything other than 'a burning in the bosom' type feeling.
I think Staal bounces back simply because he's been basically a ~70-point guy for much of his career. The past two seasons we saw outliers going both ways but one thing has remained mostly consistent; he scores roughly 50 even-strength-points every season. He had 45 last year. Where he really stumbled was on the power play where he had just one goal and 12 points. Even though the Hurricanes power play may suck ass again there's no reason he shouldn't reach 20 PPP next year, which would have boosted his 61 points back up to 70.
Because the year before last he was over a point per game. This year he was quite a bit below a point per game. He's somewhere in between and I think we all know where. He has many, many 70 point seasons under his belt. The better question, I think, is why wouldn't you predict a bounceback of sorts?

I live in Carolina and go to a lot of their practices and have season tickets....staal can be so much better than he is, he doesn't work hard and really needs to be pushed a lot more that what he has been, and a lot of others down here think the same thing. I hope he can turn things around and get to a point per game player, but I don't see it this year.
and he has only been above 80 points twice....his second season which he hit 100 and two years later when he has 82...granted in the shorten season he had 53, but take those out and throw out the rookie year and you have guy who has consistently put up 70 points average in 6 seasons. he just won't work hard enough to get over that hump, and he is only a few short months away from the dreaded hockey age of 30 when decline starts to set in............I would put him at 66 points this season, as fear he may only sniff at 70 again a few more times
