Two year deal worth $2.75 million per year.
Per Darren Dreger. Much like Carl Soderberg of a year ago, Lehtera has been highly coveted for close to a decade. Here is what was said about him in the FAntasy Prospects Report:
Jori Lehtera, C (TY 251) (read more on Lehtera here)
(LY - 182)
The Finnish scoring machine completed another highly-successful campaign in the KHL where he led Novosibirsk Sibir in points for the second consecutive year. With regards to his NHL future, the probability of Lehtera ever crossing the pond is not very good at this point considering his age (26) and the fact that he rejected a one-way contract offer from the Blues last summer. He is expected to spend next year once again in the KHL and honor the final year of his contract. Even though the odds of Lehtera's arrival in North America are slim, there is a lot to like about him as a player. At 6-2 and 190 lbs he has good size to go along with excellent playmaking abilities. This would help him translate his game to the NHL and perhaps even thrive in the Western Conference where many mammoth centermen reside. Hey - Carl Soderberg crossed the pond at 27, so you never know…
Upside - Joe Thornton (25-50-75, 40 PIM)
3YP - (15-30-45, 30 PIM)
Certainty (NHLer; Upside) - 40%, 20%
Expected arrival - 2015-16 or never
DobberHockey Draft Advice - Don't bother, unless your league is very deep and you have a roster spot you can waste a late pick on.
Obviously, the draft advice changes to "a decent final round option"

If they don't sign Stastny, Lehtera very well could centre Tarasenko and Schwartz.
Now that they've signed Stastny, where does he end up? They've got 4 solid centres now - is it guaranteed that he'll come over now?

With Stastny signing long term, I'm not sure there is a ton of value with Lehtera.
I'm interested too.
He's actually available in my cap league.
But... I don't want to use up my afternoon free agent grab if there's a potential good discount player signed....
Debating...
D. Pang is saying he sees Lehtera with Tarasenko with Schwartz, still. I don't see how?
Tarasenko and Lehtera played together in the KHL and showed a lot of chemistry...
but,
Schwartz-Stastny-Tarasenko
Steen-Backes-Oshie
Even if Backes moves to wing, he has to be top-6. Who moves out?
Maybe Oshie...
Lehtera would also look pretty good with Berglund aswell..

Angus is my best friend at dobberhockey..
I would possibly still take a flier on him, especially in leagues where age doesn't apply to farm guys(usually 100GP and 26-27y/o)

Hitchcock switches lines as much as any coach, but Armstrong just said they brought in Lehtera to be an offensive player for the Blues and he thought, with their history together, Tarasenko and him would be a good fit. JR, who covers the Blues, said Armstrong also mentioned that he saw a top line of Steen-Stastny-Backes...
Lots of possibilities, but based on early comments maybe we see:
Steen-Stastny-Backes
Schwartz-Lehtera-Tarasenko
Berglund-Sobotka-Oshie
a pretty deep line-up and no room for the kids (Jaskin, Rattie). The Blues also signed Lindholm a couple of weeks ago, so he will play somewhere.
Lehtera will get a chance with Tarasenko at some point this season. And it just might stick....he's a good player. The Blues roll three scoring lines, I don't think it necessarily matters to them if a slightly more skilled player is playing on a lower line, so Lehtera could get on that 2nd line with Tara and see sheltered minutes.

Doug Armstrong talks about him (and Stastny) below... The Blues are very happy to finally have him come over to play for them. Armstrong's not the coach, but he did say he envisioned the lines to be:
Steen-Stastny-Backes
Schwartz-Lehtera-Tarasenko

Does this mean they move one of their centremen? Berglund perhaps?
I really doubt they bump their 2nd highest scorer TJ Oshie off the grid for this guy. At best, I think Lehtera is 3rd line, there's too much money playing ahead of him.
