What d man (or player) did you drop for him though?
Ok guys this has me scared that I over value Eberle. I just made a deal for him today! I dealt away Patty Kane for J Eberle and Ryan Mcdonough. My league is Points only though and no salary cap. I just felt like Ryan Mcdonough is as great player and helped me more than i sacrificed by dropping from Kane to Ebbs. What say you? I always love your guys take on deals.
Thanks!!!

If McDonagh becomes a total scoring machine stud then it will make things a little closer. If McDonagh doesn't move mountains, then you're going to look really foolish with that downgrade to Eberle.

I think I keep Kane/Ceci in this scenario. I'd rather have the stud forwards and take a chance on finding my d-men off the wire.
I dunno about this. This could be a deal that’s decided when the season starts. 1 side of the coin is McDonagh is clearly an great player for multi-cat leagues. However this is not a Multi-cat league, and thus hes an above average D-man. 43 points in 77 games in the regular season is solid. However one could say his playoffs were his coming out party. 17 points in 25 games (52pts in 77 games). This is all “what ifs” and speculation.
The other side of the coin is what happens if Chicago gets an actual skilled 2nd line center? Kane went from really good to hella good. Essentially he’s playing at a slower speed than any of his linemates so they can catch up. Handzus best days are behind him and Shaw I think is better suited as a 3rd line player. If Chicago gets Spezza or Statsny you lost this trade. Sorry

Agree - for me this is a situation where the off season could change the landscape considerably
This is why I should ask first! My fault. I still probably would have done it though as my league runs deep on d-men (12 teams must play 4) and there is a bonus for D-men points and SHP are a Category. R-Mac gets a lot of Shorthanded Ice time and netted 4 SHP last year. I see your point of the Kane getting a better centerman but the same case could be made for Eberle too IMO. Thanks for the input though. I have great trade relations with the manager I made the deal with. I will get him on the next one.

"Cleavage is like the sun. You can look, but dont stare.. Unless you're wearing sunglasses."
2-for-1 trades are always apples-to-apples and depend on roster allocation & categories.
In points only, let's say a league is 12 teams x 9F / 5D
Forward #108 in the NHL might score 45pts in a full season.
This makes a 85pt Patrick Kane worth +40pts. above the fringe-forward.
This makes a 70pt Jordan Eberle worth +25pts above the fringe-forward.
And... a 15pt Ryan McDonagh is worth +20pts above a fringe defenseman at 30pts.
Kane(+40) & ScrubDefenseman(+0)
vs.
Eberle(+25) & McDonagh(+20)
Now... from here there are TWO ways to view this.
1) Eberle/McDonagh is the better side because it gives a slightly better overall value-over-replacement.
2) Pat Kane WILL be the better side if the P.Kane owner can find & roster a defensemen that is consinstantly better than 35pts (+5).
It can be a win-win.
For a team with little depth... Eberle/McDonagh is better side.
For a team with good depth... Pat Kane is better side.
Without more league info, I'd say it is probably a pretty even trade.
League Cats are in sig, but they are G A SOG DEF PPP SHP ESP HAT so all points of some sort excepting SOG which is another big upside to R-MAC i think he get 200 shots next year. He should also improve on the Power Play. (only13 points last year). I am looking for 25 at evens, 18-20 on PP and 3-5 on Shorthanded. thats 46-50 points with 200 shots. Kane is obviously superior to Ebbs but waiver wire D is a bare cupboard.

Chicago is looking for a 2nd line center for Kane. Edmonton is not looking to upgrade RNH. Actually Eberle is prolly in the best situation playing with Hall and RNH.
Depending on the Bonus for D-men, I still think this all hinges on if Chicago gets a center for Kane.
Also I’ve been waiting for Edmonton to make the jump just like the Av’s did this past yr, maybe you bought Eberle at the right moment and will be laughing at all of us.

Normally I favor the side that had the best asset but I don't mind this move for you. Especially with your league settings. You have a very well balanced team at all positions, short of maybe goaltending. Like most have said it'll depend on Kane getting a decent center but I don't mind the Eberle acquisition at all.
