Yes.
I've been offered my Josi for his 2014 #2 overall pick? Our draft is only new 2014 prospects, so Reinhart, Bennett, Ekblad, etc., so assuming Reinhart goes #1, it probably means Roman Josi for Sam Bennett.
Should I do it?
League is G=2, A=1, we play 6 F (any F position) and 4 D on any given night. Josi is really cheap in our pool at only 500k (we have a 70 mil cap). 1st round picks like #2 overall have a starting salary of $2 mil.
My team is pretty loaded, no weaknesses and I have a lot of good farm prospects.
Yes.
if you have a loaded team and a good farm why would you do it? You have no need to make the move and Josi is a first line d man and with the cap hit etc you're better off not
I'm with voodoo here. Why abandon a proven asset who is very likely to get better still and who is in a great situation for an uncertain player that may have potential but might be a bust or keeps you waiting for a long while just as well. There are so many more high draft picks than player that really make an impact in fantasy hockey.

I tend to think do it... But I'd really have to see your team and all league details to be sure.
If you can fill the resulting hole on D, sure.
It's a 12-team league. Set up is a bit unusual. We start 10 (6F, 4D, 1G). It's offense only G=2, A=1, GA=-1, head-to-head. 25-man roster, keep as many as you want but it's a cap league with raises based on performance, so we're limited by cost (unlike most teams, I don't tend to sign free agents -- I keep as many as possible -- only using FA to sign 3rd goalie, since we're only allowed to keep 2 sets). 20-man farm (graduate after playing 10 fantasy games; I tend to keep them down until they are really good) As I said, my team is pretty loaded...
ROSTER
F: Malkin, Hall, Toews, Seguin, Duchene, Pacioretty, Vanek, Pavelski, Moulson, Gaborik, Pominville, Kane, Marchand, RNH*
D: Letang, Wisniewski, Burns, Shattenkirk, Edler, OEL, Zidlicky, Seabrook, Bogosian*
G: Montreal, Washington
*I put these guys on injury reserve (we get 2 spots), so I'm sort of using this as 2 quasi farm spots.
FARM
F: MacKinnon, Drouin, Huberdeau, Galchenyuk, Strome, BSchenn, Granlund, Nishushkin, Grigorenko, Baertschi, Stepan
D: Dumba, Hamilton, Kulikov, Lindholm, Gardiner, Josi
+ 3 2014 picks -- I own picks #1, #3 and #6 in this year's draft
One strategy might be to swap Josi for #2, then try to swap #6 for another young d-man, in effect trading up from 6 to 2, and swapping Josi for another young d-man. Not sure who I could get for #6 though.
I should note that salaries are not NHL, but based on fantasy performance. So for example, my most expensive guy is Malkin, who is a bargain at $5.5m out of a $70m cap. My salaries tend to be fairly evenly spread out -- Duchene is $5m, Toews/Seguin are $4m, etc. Letang is my most expensive D at only $3m. Montreal is only $2.5m. So I've managed to build this team quite economically...
Yes, looks like you don't need Josi. And whoever takes Reinhart first is nuts. Bennett

Bennett over Reinhart, eh? Most I've talked to think Reinhart's the safer bet (albeit perhaps slightly lower ceiling; but then again, maybe Draisaitl has higher ceiling than both?). The problem for me is I've got guys on the teams drafting high -- Huberdeau on FLA, Grigorenko on BUF, Hall/RNH on EDM, Baertschi on CGY, Strome on NYI. Don't have any VAN (#6) or CAR (#7) guys. I could grab Ekblad if he goes to EDM, but have Kulikov on FLA if he goes there. I could trade any of these guys too of course...
Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.
I'd easily make that trade. And that was even before seeing your team or league settings. Now, I'd even more easily make that trade.

I like this deal for both sides.
Josi is an excellent bargain in your league at only $500k, and you get a great young asset in the draft that you can stash.
As others have mentioned, your D is well set so Josi is an excellent bargaining chip to play with.
Make the deal.

I would have said don't do it.. but given the strength of your team on D, do it. You can afford to lose an asset like Josi to roll the dice on a top forward selection. Where do you pick without this trade? Last? If you're not picking near the top 3-5, make this deal.

I hold the #1, #3 and #6 picks. So with the trade I would pick #1, #2, #3 and #6. I only have 3 farm spots available but could graduate Stepan to open up a farm spot (who has the league minimum 500k salary in this pool, so doesn't eat into my cap very much). Or I could trade pick #6 for another young D to replace Josi. Then the question is who do you pick 1, 2, 3 -- Bennett, Reinhart, Ekblad? (Ekblad replaces Josi and there are only so many F prospects I can have)
