I took over the 2nd team in my sig and I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to shop either of them around? If so, what should I look for in return?

The teams strengths are clearly in prospects and defence. Some defencemen that aren't listed in my sig include: Oleksiak, Reilly, C Murphy, Matheson, and McCabe.

Your D is definitely your strongest asset, that said to move OEL or Hedman you need to be getting a star forward in return. You are missing that pure offensive guy in your forward group, you may need to sweeten the deal but if you could land a Kessel/Seguin/Benn type player that would be the route I'd go. If not stand pat, you are likely another year or two from competing with that roster and you don't want to sell guys like Hedman/OEL just before they really take off.

I like OEL just a tad more than Hedman... but I do love them both as emerging D in mult-cat pools.
I think the highest return you could get is dangling Hedman (TB) in front of the eyes of a GM that owns TB players (Bishop & Stamkos, in particular).

Fantasy GMs start to get invested in teams where they have star players... so you might get a pretty solid return from those teams.
I'd start by gauging their interest, because I think that's where you'll get best offer.

OEL, Phoenix, it's just not very sexy.
The casual fantasy hockey GM is still not really hip to how good OEL is and will be... and I don't think you'll get fair return in trade for him.

Thanks Pengwin! It just so happens that one GM owns both Stamkos and Bishop, so I'll send him a message to see what he thinks.

From the limited amount I've seen (dont watch much TB, watch a bit of PHX) OEL has more playmaking ability than Hedman by a significant margin.

What he said! Some GMs in my league were quite surprised that I decided to sign OEL for 8 years and a lot of money (we sign our own contracts in that league).

That said, I own OEL & Stamkos & Bishop, and I wouldn't swap OEL for Hedman straight up (although it's currently pretty close).

Pengwin7 got it right : OEL is worth a bit more, but Hedman will likely get you a bit more in a trade.

OEL is more proven, more consistent. Hedman is more of a risky pick with slightly higher upside. Can't go wrong either way.

I give OEL a slight edge, but I certainly would not be unhappy with having either on my team. I really liked what I saw from Hedman this year, and if he shows that he can keep up his offensive production next season, a lot of us will likely be changing our tune a year from now. I don't think you can really lose with either, but OEL is definitely the safer option of the two.

I own OEL in a roto league and Hedman in pts only. I'd consider trading OEL, I won't move Hedman...

Yeah, I have OEL in a points-only and in a multi-cat..and I'm rather happy with that. Given the potential upside, the high praise he continually receives for his real-life play, I'd be loathe to move him unless a great offer came along.

And, to be honest, Hedman is a guy I'd move OEL for. 55 points, +5, without Steven Stamkos for 45 games. Clearly the main Dman on a team that's good and young and should be competitive for a while. Very solid piece.

This past season is the kind of numbers I think/hope OEL will hit.

That being said, I envision it as almost a lateral move. But it's a trade I'd make.

Still can't believe Hedman didn't make the Swedish Olympic team, and that Larsson barely played in the later games. Ridiculous

In a points only i think I'd stay with OEL, but in a multi cat I'd be taking the chance on hedman, I think the big guy has arrived.
