The mother's day journal is a great idea. I think I'll start one this year. I always cook my wife's favorite breakfast for her on mother's day. I usually get the kids to make her a card, so this year it turns into the journal idea. In the past, I've also done a mother's day video. Me and the kids will talk a bit why mum is awesome and why we love her. Sometimes on the videos, we'll say things like... " I love Mummy more than hockey." The kids will say more than chocolate. She loves it.

I scored big points... "best mothers day ever", she said.

Wife got to sleep in until 10am, while I double-dutied the 4-year old & 3-month old.
Morning was presentation, three roses in red vase, card fingerprinted by two daughters with faces on fingerprints, homemade decorated cardboard box with stickers from 4-year old.
I gag-gifted her a pack of 6-solar lights in a big box. Funny disappointed expression, but she knew that there was a box in the bottom of box.
12 page "matte cover" shutterfly photo book with 20 custom pages of the two girls & mom, text as selected... "best mom ever" stuff. Priceless.
Then, wife got to go out for dinner with her mom & grandmom from 5pm-8pm.

Fugg. I. am. tired.
Part of that was my Saturday of events, which included socring the game-winning goal in my men's league championship on Saturday night.

My wife has complained about her crappy LG smartphone for a long time. I combined Mother's Day and a different gift I was going to get her for her birthday and bought her an iPhone. We have an agreement that we don't go crazy anymore for gifts but I broke that one this time. She was/is so happy!
