At this point, probably Wheeler. If he can put of this kind of scoring with the limited talent that's around him then he shouldn't be underestimated. Staal would probably be my 2nd choice.

E. Kane

I will go with wheeler too, biased because Wpg fan. Staal is trending down and the last couple years haven't been great even though I like him too. If you want to gamble for most uposide then maybe E Kane is your guy. He may just explode next year, too many tools, hopefully the attitude changes.

Wheeler is the safe bet.
I'd go with Eric Staal. Too much track record to ignore. I think Wheeler's fantastic, and he's added some major tools to his arsenal over the last couple seasons, but Staal's got 7 seasons of 70+ point production under his belt. One season doesn't make a trend. Staal had 53 points in 48 games just last season, and he's only a couple years older than Wheeler.
Staal for me too. But Wheeler was a tough one to not go with.

Wheeler & Eric Staal are both "70pt guys", these days, IMO.
Carolina doesn't have the money to support Eric Staal with good linemates. The team is young & bad. The powerplay is awful.
Winnipeg doesn't have a lot of money either, but at least their player depth is more seasoned with better PP weapons, IMO.
I do not like Wheeler as an NHL-player, but as a fantasy GM, I'd keep Wheeler & his 82 games per season over Eric Staal and the awful Canes.
Thanks everyone. I gave Rep to those I could (ran out at you, Pengwin...sorry).

Eric Staal.
Sure he's had a down year, but the pedigree is there. The Canes may have lots of changes with their coaching staff, GM etc. Don't discount Staal here. He's the guy to keep.
I think Skinner outproduces Staal in Carolina moving forward.
I can't stand the Canes but E.Staal is still my pick here.

I'm surprised the love for Wheeler here. The guy has never cracked 70 points, and it's not like he has more "development" ahead of him. I'd treat him as a 65-70 pt guy. In a points only league, why wouldn't you go for Staal who has had 70+ point seasons for 7 straight? Sure, he's not on pace for that this year, but he's also shooting at 8.9%. I'll take the guy who put up 53 in 48 games last year, and several seasons at 70+ while only being 29 years old, than a 27 year old who has never cracked 70.
Points only keeper I see it as Staal >/= Skinner > Wheeler/Kane/Ryan
Staal without hesitation for me. One off year and all of a sudden he sucks I guess, eh?

I'd go with Wheeler, but E.Staal does give me reason to pause. You could chalk this year up to the knee injury. I would put money that he has a better year next year, however, he is getting older and the Jets are trending up, so Wheeler is my pick in a photo finish!

I would say Staal = Wheeler and you could probably flip a coin on who will out perform who going forward. Theres no arguing Staals past scoring but many see Wheeler as a player who is still trending upward (ever so slightly) and Staal "stalling" so to speak.
Honestly I would flip a coin and be happy with who ever won, but right now I would probably say I am more comfortable owning Wheeler then EStaal going forward. That being said, I can see your arguement (to some extent) for Staal as the player to take here.
