Overall thoughts
Petr Budaj
He had a rough start but was awesome afterwards. Given the early hole he had to be nearly perfect and he did just that. Can't have those starts often though.
PK Subban
Regardless of what people think of his reduced ice time last game this wasn't a good way to respond, at least in the first when he was on the ice for the first two Sens goals. He was benched until the start of the second. He played well after that.
Max Pacioretty - David Desharnais - Tomas Vanek
Pacioretty's hat trick puts him for a tie in 3rd place among all goal scorers. Pretty amazing considering his slow start and his assist totals would be a lot better if the team around him had been more consistent putting pucks in the net throughout the year. Desharnais is playing excellent in the distributor role and Vanek has been awesome since the trade.
Jarred Tinordi
A few mistakes but overall a nice game. Good physical play and continues to show good toughness. He has to do this to force the coach's hand when Beaulieu is up with the team trying to get into games.
Mike Weaver
He is quietly doing a solid job with the team. Honestly I would consider re-signing him if he is willing to play the #7 role. Tonight he had a goal and a helper in over 25 minutes.

So basically the dmen in Chicago will be Gorges/Subban/Tinordi/Weaver/Bouillon/Beaulieu and Budaj will start.Practice - April 8
BROSSARD – On Tuesday morning, the Canadiens held a practice at the Bell Sports Complex before flying to Chicago for a Wednesday game against the Blackhawks.
- P.K. Subban, Andrei Markov and Alexei Emelin, who missed yesterday’s practice, were all back on the ice.
- The team’s first two lines worked on powerplay drills under the supervision of head coach Michel Therrien and assistant coach Clement Jodoin at the start of the practice. Daniel Briere alternated with Alex Galchenyuk on a line centered by Plekanec, while Nathan Beaulieu took turns at the point alongside P.K. Subban.
- The only players absent were Travis Moen and Brandon Prust. Moen is recovering from a concussion and Prust is expected to return from an upper-body injury in time for the postseason.
- After practice, Coach Therrien announced that Emelin, Markov, Douglas Murray and Carey Price will not make the trip to Chicago with the team. Murray will be serving the last game of his three-game suspension, while the other three players are staying in Montreal to gain additional rest.

Happy to see Markov get some rest. Way too much ice-time for him right now.
Great to hear that Prust should be back for the playoffs. He should be a great boost for the team.

Chiming in here real quickly... what a lousy game tonight vs Islanders. Too many Globetrotter attempts and very few quality shots on net. They were more preoccupied trying to set up Pacioretty's 40th than winning the game. I'm not going as far as saying they're stumbling into the playoffs but if they put up another stinker on Saturday I might change my mind...

That wasn't the Islanders, that was the Bridgeport Sound Tigers....
The Habs have played the Islanders poorly all season. They get in a bad habit of playing down to teams, and this is exhibit A. Remember that 1-0 snoozefest that DD won in OT back in December?

At least now we don't have to watch the team waste games trying to set up Pacioretty's 40th goal anymore. It got so bad I thought Gionta was going to fire a pass back to the bench during his penalty shot.

I kept telling myself the same thing during the game. How many opportunities did Vanek and Desharnais passed on simply to try and set up Patches? Urgh!
Oh well, it's now over and the Habs can focus on the Bolts in what should be a pretty tight series.
Price looks almost unbeatable right now. If the Habs play simply decent in front of him, I've got the feeling they won't need much offense to win the series.
