That's an interesting pool to choose from. You might be able to find some prospects from earlier year who are close to their first call up.
Hey guys,
I have the opportunity to move up in our upcoming draft to the #4 spot. Our league draft will be comprised of all 2013 and 2014 prospects as well as any player from previous years who has not yet scored a point in the NHL (as of last week).
It's a points only keeper (keep 9) - start 9 fwds, 4 d, and 1 goalie.
I'm in it to win it this year and am hoping to turn one of my aging stars (Parise) into the 4th overall.
It's a virtual lock that MacKinnon, Drouin, and Barkov are the top three picks.
I'm thinking about one of:
Bennett
Reinhart
Teravainen
Nichushkin
with a few other guys who might but will probably not come into consideration, like:
Monahan
Rattie
Lindholm
Trochek
Gibson
etc.
Can you please rank the top list in terms of upside and probability of NHL success? Because of the age difference and the recent hype, I'm thinking Teravainen but want to know what y'all think.
Cheers

Guys like Strome, Kucherov, and Nyquist are all gone because they have scored. I can't seem to find anyone else I would rather have than the four I suggested but I am open to suggestions if you have any!

From the four you stated, I'd go Nichuskin. But would'nt move Parise for him. Looking at your team, you could realy well win it again next year since your vet are young. I assume that you will have a pick around 22-24. See if you can offer your first rounder + a depth player (Enstrom could attract some one and as I look at it he is out of your 9 keeper) for this fourth or a pick in the top ten wich will be a great pick.
Thanks DD - you are right, I do plan to try and win it again next year. There is one factor that I left out which is important and will explain why Parise is a guy I may move for that pick. At 32 years old, all players go into a UFA auction, where the highest bidder in terms of salary and term gets the player. That means, I have one year left of Spezza, two more of Parise, and Vanek, etc.
I'm trying to find a way to turn a sure thing like Parise (65-75 pts, imo) into a guy that could hit that number or at least come into the 50 pt range short term, and 70+ long term. I like Nichushkin but am slightly worried about the Russian factor with him.

OK, this info make it different. But I'd personnaly still keep Parise unless you get more. See if you can get it for Spezza. He's been prety inconsistent lately and injury prone. Maybe you could add another piece. Make it known that you plan to offer Spezza for a top ten pick; maybe you could find your man.
And I'm assuming that Kuz isn't available either?
Going by dobber's list, monaha would be the pick. http://hockey.dobbersports.com/index...-215-prospects

I would go with Nichuskin, who has graduated from Dobbers list, as I think he has a higher ceiling and will have less competition for top minutes going forward (Monahan will have to fight with Backlund for the top centre spot - and maybe another top center from this years draft - whereas Nichuskin will be top top left winger for Dallas).

I'd move all the bus the list but I'd be looking at nichuskin first then Monahan or TT, maybe Rattie just because of his value but I would flip him right away for something as his value is diminished in the St Louis system.
