Here we are? Where are we? I lump AHL into the same category as junior.
95% of the junior stars scream junior star and that's it. You're not coming up with any revelations here, you're just ignoring the concept of fantasy hockey discussions and how they relate to real hockey (as in - we all understand that 5% of prospects succeed, so we discuss a scale of success within that 5% - whereas you seem to get pretty upset about that 'relative' discussion and act like we're talking on a reality scale. Basically if you relax and enjoy fantasy hockey and the chatter therein, you'll be a happier person. (and when I say happier person, I mean happier person within the forum, not the realm of real life - another example of discussing something based within parameters that shouldn't need to be outlined)Originally posted by Big Ev View Post
It's not strange actually because that's what actual hockey people do. He will be overrated because people will think all these goals, and points will translate to the nhl while overlooking the fact he won't do much under Babcock if he never improves his play. He screams junior star and that's it.
On a side note, Thomas Jurco also screamed junior star, but here we are. Fantasy owners love to dream and love to strive for that next star. Let's not poo-poo those dreams when the player is 18 or 19. Anything is possible (and yes, failure is 20X more likely than success, we don't need that clarified)

This all can be said about Mantha as well. But Drouin we know is the better player by a mile.Originally posted by Axeman33 View Post
For what its worth, thats exactly what I have seen from him in Halifax this year. Uninspired, almost to the point of looking lazy. I've been to a few games this year and he just seems to give an effort when the puck is on his stick and seems lazy when it's not. He stays on the ice for way too long and is still piling on the points. The points from Drouin in my eyes have really masked how poorly he has looked this year in Halifax.
I was hoping being on Team Canada and having Sutter push the buttons will change that for him. I guess time will tell.
Good comparison in terms of meaningless hat tricks and point production at world junior + CHL although Stone is known for his good D.Originally posted by Mr. Guru View Post
Not saying this cause Big Ev will probably take this to heart, but, Mantha looks like a way better version of Mark Stone.
It's going to be hard to gauge Draisaitl in this tournament since he will get no support but his skating looked pretty bad. And I think they mentioned that on the air.
Drouin looked uninspired for this matchup and still posted up 3 apples.
How do you know this? Have you seen him play this year or simply going on what you read?Originally posted by Big Ev View Post

My statement with regards to Drouin comes from my own opinion after attending Mooseheads games this year.

Now that you guys bring it up, Drouin was pretty transparent out there this morning. Granted it was 430am when I got up to watch it so maybe I wasn't paying enough attention, but I didn't notice him much in comparison to last year's WJC and Memorial Cup (although he would obviously stand out more in the latter)

Hopefully he needs some competition to push him to the next level so we might see him raise his game when the tournament starts getting deep. Hopefully.
PS. Riley Barber with a goal
I was most impressed by Eichel on day 1. He is 16 and the USA best player in my eyes. Reinhart and Morrissey where good for Canada

(slang, idiomatic) 1. A person who habitually corrects or criticizes the language usage of others, especially in situations where it is unnecessary, e.g. an informal conversation.
Notes: This behavior is almost always found in people with very low I.Q's, whom have a very low sense of self worth. Impotence is also commonly linked to Grammar Nazi's.
No mention of Forsberg on the players to watch. Didn't get to see him but he put up 1g 2A last night.

How was Horvat? I'm looking forward to seeing how he looks offensively with top players, and if he is as great defensively as everyone says.

Horvat has been really solid. Guys like him won't shine as bright on the big ice though. But he has been better than top scorer mantha. Horvats offense is better suited for north america
