Yzerman has been making monster mistakes left and right, so whatever the rational roster thought, expect the opposite. I do not see him lasting another three years at this rate. Two is even looking doubtful. The defense has not been upgraded at all, the goaltending is still up in the air mostly and the offense alone will not carry the club.
Unless Jon Cooper is the Einstein of hockey coaching, this could be another really tough season for us.

TB could sure use a couple of shutdown D. Even with suspect tending a few solid D-men would help. Salo was not the correct guy to sign last season...

What's your take on Riku Helenius? I had him on my farm in a keeper league and he's over the age limit for prospect's so now he's on my main roster this year. I dont wanna dump him just yet but i dont want to waste a roster spot all season either.
I was going to take a wait and see approach. Yzerman bought him back last year so i figured he,d get a chance but that was before Bishop was signed. He was a high draft pick for Tampa and he's on a one way contract.
My gut says Tampa has little faith in Lindback so he gets a cup of coffee.
Thanks for your insight.
Management is waiting on Vasilevski. He's thought of as the long-term solution within the organization. Bishop, Lindback and for that matter, anyone else, is viewed as a stop-gap. That said, I personally like Helenius and if the team is doing poorly, he could have a cup of java, sure. But on your main roster? No, don't bother.

Hey Lightning fans! I'm wondering how Gudas has looked in the preseason and if he's earned a permanent spot on the roster for this season? Haven't heard much out of Tampa, would love some local insight......looking at calling Gudas up this year, but want to make sure he's a lock for the team first.

Yes, Gudas is a lock for the team and was terrific in camp. He's a permanent fixture in Tampa Bay and if you're in a league that counts hits+PIMs(and or blocked shots) I highly suggest you get him on your roster if you can.
Hey TB fans
Is Killorn the next in line if/when Malone gets hurt? I know he is locked in on the top 6, but what are his chances to play on the top line?
Thanks

Playing time won't be an issue w/ Gudas. Jon Cooper is a huge supporter of Gudas and is very familiar with the player having coached him for a few seasons in the AHL. Cooper stated previously he doesn't think Gudas will get PP time because they need him on the PK. If one of Hedman or Carle get hurt I could see him getting some spot duty. I would bet anything he will stick rack up at least 7 goals possibly 10 and all of them could be at even strength. He will likely never produce more than 20-25 pts in a season though.
Martin St Louis is named Lightning Captain. It is about time heh !! Congrats

Hows Filppula looked?
Debating about making a move for him. He seems to be getting solid points but still pretty low PP time.
Any comments on his play would be appreciated!

Filppula is averaging 2:44 per game on the PP which is behind only MSL, Stamkos, Malone, Purcell. Filps has pretty much been heading that 2nd unit. Moving forward as the eventual Malone injury occurs, Valterri will see even more PP time. I've been really impressed with his game overall. I've been fortunate enough to watch every single Lightning game this season and he's definitely meshing well with the team. He's such a dynamic player, you can tell he learned a lot from Datsyuk he's so smart with his positioning out there, at times he dangles effortlessly and is a real elusive player. Chances are if Filppula is on the ice he has the puck on his stick...couldn't be happier with him from a Lightning fan perspective.
He's on pace for 64 pts which would be two shy of his career high. I'm definitely expecting him to be near 60 pts this season and is still somewhat of a buy low in many fantasy leagues.
Hope that helps.

Any chance Killorn gets to be on the top PP now that he's playing on the top line? Or is Malone's big body in front still the way to go?
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.
