this is what I was thinking...unless you were absolutely forced to drop one of them, I would have tried to free up cap space elsewhere...say trading one of the Sedins straight up for a cheaper option (like Eberle).

That said, we don't know all the intricacies of your league and how players are valued (or at least their perceived value), so perhaps you knew you couldn't get a good return for other high-priced talent on your team (including Ovechkin).

So, in theory, if this deal was Stamkos for Eberle, Ovechkin (instead of dropping him), Diaz, and pick, plus freed-up cap space, that is a good deal for you.

Most of us would have liked to find a way to keep Stamkos and Ovechkin, but only you know if that was not possible.

salary cap leagues are tricky...if people in your league know you are in cap trouble, you won't get near the proper value for players. It is sort of like the real NHL that way when dealing pending UFAs.

In the league in my sig (first team listed), I was in a lot of cap trouble this offseason and there was no way I'd be able to keep all my forwards (with big raises going to Hall, Benn, and Voracek), so I had to trade Semin straight up for Silfverberg. I know some people aren't big fans of Semin, but he is close to a PPG player and Silfverberg will be lucky to break 50 pts next year. A move like that really hurts my team, but Silfverberg was the best offer I received because my fellow league members knew I was in trouble.

    Threads like this annoy me.

Did he make a bad trade? Probably ya.

But after the 4th or 5th negative comment I think we could have stopped. Everyone doesn't need to hop in and make fun of him or tell him to quit fantasy hockey. And for an experienced guy like Mcgoo to make that comment in the 3rd page is just repulsive to me. No wonder people are nervous about posting on here.

Hope people are satisfied with themselves for being the 15th person to tell the guy he made a bad trade.

Hint hint... He probably already figured it out

It did get annoying, and I actually don't mind the appropriate negative feedback, I still have my own opinions, and clearly I will not quick fantasy hockey..lol

Douche bags are douche bags, I have never won my league by sitting on my team, I like to make moves for better or worse, hopefully it doesn't end up too much worst..lol

With 457 posts, Mr.X is no stranger to Dobberville. Put the proposed offer on the forum first and get a feel for what people here would say.

We could have found a way to keep one of the top 3 players in the league on his roster even with his cap limitations. Some have already proposed some suggestions after the fact.

Some here can be rude yes, but I think much of it are tongue-in-cheek comments, not meant to be hurtful.

My advice now, try and get Stammer back
Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.

    Ok so.

    Call me a minority then.

You traded an 8 million dollar Stamkos.

You get 3 years of Eberle at 787,000 that is a 7,130,000 dollar savings a year for 3 years. There is probably 25 points between Ebs and Stammer.

You get a pick that should be one of Schultz, Yak, Huberdeau, or Schultz

I dont think you got ass raped. I still would have tried to find another way to save your dollars. But on a cost analysis you did ok. Do NOT sign a big ticket D. Sign a cheap one and upgrade a forward or a goalie and make the most of your money.

I think you can come out of this ok. Maybe with some luck even win it. Lets chat in 3 years and see what the numbers show.

    Cheers.
