Not too big of a story since they can pull him back if a team claims him (pretty sure EE and Lind have both been on revocable waivers before when they weren't playing well) , however it would be interesting to see what we would do if a team were to claim him and be willing to take on his $8M next year.

Do we let him walk away for free to free up $8M of salary? Or do you hang on to him and shut him down for the year and hope he can come back next season fully healthy and produce the way we wanted him to?

Ya I expect to see a lot of guys getting put on waivers now for the opportunity to trade them heading down the stretch.

Nothing major here but I would be surprised if anyone:

a) submitted an actual claim for him

or

b) anyone wanted to trade for him

Since he's come off the juice his legs have gone to crap, and so has his power.

I was listening to AA on the FAN yesterday and he stated that all players are placed on waivers after the deadline at some point as per team policy (this is new to me). He then went on to say that the rules prohibit teams from placing injured players on waivers.

Why would you keep him, even without the cash? I like speed, keeps the fans in it and we have a couple of the faster dudes in the league (Davis & Gose in AAA), cheap guys. Yeah, I'd pass on Melky!
