R.A. Dickey

Was hammered by the Braves today, 6 ER, 11 Hits in 6 IP. It brought his ERA back above 5, it now sits at 5.18. It seemed like he was figuring it out 2 weeks ago but has been roughed up in consecutive starts yet again. He's getting to the point of being droppable soon and if anyone was stupid enough to draft him in the first 5 rounds, I don't feel bad for them.

I think MLB hitters figured this one trick pony out. Thoughts?

I personally never thought he had "figured it out". I was upset when the jays spent what the did to get him and I don't think he will be anymore than a 12 game winner type guy. He's not an ace! Never has been an ace so why would he start at the age of 36, or how ever old he is! As a huge jays fan I hope I'm wrong but there just hasn't been any knuckleballers who have shown ace material year in and year out. Not sure I'd drop him quite yet but I'd be waiting for his next QS and try to dump him to the biggest jays fan in my league...

Shut him down for four weeks. Let him improve his back. His velocity is down about 3-4 MPH and when you're a knuckleballer that's the kiss of death.

I agree, he needs a rest.

I agree that he may be, in part, injured, but velocity is hardly critical for a knuckler to succeed. Keep in mind that he was pitching in a more modest NL division and is now in the best hitting division in baseball. My guess is that likely accounts for a majority of the difference in his stats thus far and will only change so much.

Would anyone trade hammel and Locke for dickey and kluber?
My two have been pretty good lately...seems like a sell high and buy low for me but I'm not sure I want dickey now!
None of them are keepers.

I'd likely be against trading for him since Dickey seems to be injured but we don't know the severity or exactly what it is...
