Hands down Morgan Rielly. The best offensive defenseman in prospect land right now.
If you had to choose between them in a multi-cat league, who would it be? Will rep you when I get more rep.

Rielly hands down...but I don't think he jumps up to the majors until 2014-2015 at the earliest. Leafs are having issues bringing up Gardiner.

He almost did it this year. This kid could put Franson and Gardiner out of business in TO if he adapts quick enough. Trouba is a hitter but he's not going to light up the score sheet in the same way.

Trouba is going to be a good D-man at both ends of the ice - but Rielly is the guy you want in fantasy.

Even with Trouba getting a nice boost in a multi-cat I still want Rielly here. His scoring ceiling is just so much higher, and those hits/blocks/PIM will be easier to find from somewhere else.

Agreed! I would keep him expecting him to not make the jump next season, and being pleasantly surprised if he does. Even if he does though, there hasn't really been a 20 year-old defenseman that has come into the league and been a fantasy asset since Phaneuf in 05-06, and Myers in 09-10, so I'd temper my expectations.

Yeah, I think for fantasy purposes I'd roll with Rielly.
I do think that Trouba's got a tonne of upside, though, and this talk of him solely being a hard-hitting defensive defenseman could prove very wrong. The only time I've seen him play was at the WJC, but I watched all of the US' games, and I thought that Trouba was the best player on the ice in all but one or two games, and that's counting players from teams like Russia and Canada. I have a hunch that he'll take one more year year of college before joining the Jets, but he could surprise. From what I hear he truly looks like a man among boys in the college game; I'm not sure another year of playing in the CCHA will help his development much.
That said, I have always been super impressed with Rielly any time I've watched him play, and his game appears more complete than I had expected.
It wouldn't floor me if both of these kids make their respective teams next season, but if I had to guess, it would be that Rielly makes it in, and Trouba spends one more year in college.

I look to be in the monrity here, but I would take Trouba over Rielly.. Trouba showed us why he is going to be a stud, in the near future, at the World Juniors this past year..
Trouba scored 9 points in 7 games, 4 of those being goals.. He has a huge shot from the point and has the body of as man already at age 19.. I feel he could fit in with the Jets next season already..

It's close but I'd go with Rielly. But Trouba offense seems to be a bit underrated he puts points everywhere he plays.
Points only keeper league

2 goals for Trouba in game one of the first round of the playoffs last night, and he led all defensemen in goals and points through the regular season in the CCHA.
Even if Trouba makes the club next season you have to consider where he'll slot in. Barring any trades - Buff, Enstrom, and Bogosian will be ahead of him for the foreseeable future. Reilly seems like the better choice.
