tuff one here. hamiltion is looking amazing but sometimes the goalie prospects are the better choice. i have lehner in one league where we play one goalie and i have shot down every offer extended bc i think he is the next rask type prospect.

i am a guy that will take the stud goalie everytime, everyday.

Lehner will take the #1 spot and be a beast doing it, i just dont see Hamilton being that calibre of d-man...he'll be good, but not beast good.

your goalies right now arent super, MAF is your best (which is not bad) but after that it kinda drops off RL will solidify that position for you. your d-men are solid enough to get you by and i dont think DH takes it over the top, so trading him away wont hurt you.

I'll take Hamilton since he looks like he's handling himself in the league. I'm not a fan of going after prospect goalies since I don't have 5 yrs to wait for each one of them and it's a complete crap shoot if they develop into starters. It's easier finding them each year on waivers when back ups become starters from injuries or trades. I don't exactly see Anderson giving up his day job in Ottawa any time soon either.

Another guy in the league is a big Bruins fan and high on Hamilton. He has Holtby, who is starting to establish himself. Would you do a Hamilton for Holtby trade?

doubt you'll have to wait 5yrs for Lehner, depending on what happens with CA at the trade deadline, RL could be the starter next year.

i would be saying this even if i wasnt as Sens fan btw

Nope...that IMO is not enough for Hamilton. dont get me wrong in my earlier post, this is a close trade (speaking of Lehner vs Hammy), but Holtby is not in Lehner territory

I mean on pure upside I agree, but situationally, Holtby is in a much better position - Washington doesn't have a bona fide starter (yet), whereas Ottawa has Anderson and Bishop (even if Bishop gets traded later, which I anticipate, Anderson will stay- and he's not that old at 31 and has good years in him). Holtby has every opportunity to get the number 1 right now, and a lot could change between now and then for Lehner.

That's just the other side of the coin - I personally think Lehner has Patrick Roy potential (he definitely has Roy's personality).

I wouldnt do this deal. You are trading away a starting dman for a goalie that would be your back up at best. I am not understanding the logic in making a move like that. And to top it off you already have to good starting goalies.
    So why make the move?

It depends on whether you need a goalie or not. I don't think you do. I think you need more D help. Keep Dougie.

The logic lies mostly in Bryzgalov's bad stats, which I don't see improving significantly next season or the one after that given his past and current performance in Philly.

I am looking for a reliable 2nd starting goalie who will do more than simply get me starts and saves - I need a good SV% and GAA to beat the elite in my league, especially in the playoffs. The last two times I was eliminated in the playoffs (one of the times was in the championship game and I got 2nd in the league) - were very close games: 4-6 and 5-6. Both times I lost because of goalie stats - namely, Bryzgalov's stats.

The second part of my logic stems from the importance of goalie stats in the league (5/12 categories), which inflates the value of every goalie in the league - particularly starting goalies or future starters. They play a huge part in whether you win or lose a given H2H matchup - and a bad week from an inconsistent goalie can cripple an otherwise capable team.

pfft quit talking up your prospect. Lehner is gonna be great, but Dougie's projected to be pretty amazing in his own right - and the Bruins are giving him every opportunity to live up to that potential.
