Huet wanted a chance too. So did Hasek. It's a tough world for goalies.
From rotoworld (source Winnipeg Sun): "Fred Brathwaite would like to get one last shot at playing in the NHL. He is hoping to land himself a tryout after spending the past four years with the Mannheim Eagles in the Deutsch Elite League. He said he has spoken with three clubs about an opportunity, but a potential lockout could make him take one of the offers he has from a European team. "Guys like Craig Anderson and Ben Bishop are going to want to play in Europe if the season doesn't start over here," said Brathwaite. "If that happens, they're going to be taking away jobs from guys like myself." He hasn't competed at the NHL level since he was in Columbus in 2003-04"
Wow. Blast from the past. If only he find a Delorean with a working flux capacitor and Marty McFly himself back to 1999 when he was coming off a 25 win season as a 26 year old.

Who the hell is this guy lol. This sounds like it's before I started following hockey.
I never remembered him being a starter, but I guess he was the #1 in Calgary one year. Look at the team he won 25 games with: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/l...000432000.html
Valeri Bure 75 points, Iggy, St. Louis, Savard, Albelin, Regehr, Stillman, Wiemer, Bill Lindsay. Fuhr and Giggy as the #2/#3 tenders haha

He was never a stellar NHL goalie (a serviceable back-up), so I don't get this. What makes him think he can hack today's NHL at 39? Bizarre.
He could be a decent insurance policy if he accepts a two-way deal.
