    Default Third Goalie For Playoffs

For the league in my sig, I'm thinking of swapping Reimer for Schneider (more starts down the stretch?), Pavelec, or possibly even Holtby.

Should I just stick with Reimer or drop him for one of the other goalies I mentioned?

Whoever I go with would simply be an insurance policy for the fantasy playoffs (rest of the regular season) with Rinne and Halak my true tandem.

    Thanks.

I think Schneider wouldn't be a bad idea. The fact that he's been so stellar this year while getting the starts few and far between has really earned the confidence of the coaches and the organization. Rotoworld had a little blurb suggesting that it could even become a rotation, although to be honest I doubt that very much. I think that as an insurance goalie for a tandem of Rinne and Halak, Schneider will provide quality starts in replace of quantity. I see Schneider getting at least 1/3 for the rest of the season in order to give Luongo a little bit of extra rest, which they can actually comfortably do this year given Schneider's excellent play.

If Schneider is going to start 1 of 3 from here on in, then snag him! I'd still avoid Pavelec even though the Thrashers still seem to be in the playoff hunt and Holtby will likely be riding the pines once he loses a game assuming Neuvirth is good to go. Another option might be Bernier if he is available? Rumour has it he'll be sharing quite a bit of the load with Quick down the stretch as well. Not as solid as Schneider, but may get a handful more starts.

Scheinder.. Canucks will want Lou rested for their drive to the cup finals. Riemer will get the games, but not as good as #s.

Thanks for all the input, guys. Looks like I'm going with, as you each said in various ways, quality over quantity and dropping Reimer for Schneider.

Bernier is available and on my watch list, but I just don't trust he'll be as consistent with Quick likely starting at least half of the remaining games. Schneider has shown that rare ability to play well even without the opportunity to get into that elusive rhythm from getting consistent starts.

Or maybe the Duck fan in me just can't imagine cheering for a Kings goalie.

That said, if anyone else is reading this thread and simply needs a starter because of injuries like I did with Halak out for a while, I still think Reimer is your best bet among goalies who are probably available in your league.
