    Default Holtby or Boucher?

As an extra goalie the rest of the season only.

    EDIT: Bernier is also available.

Boucher, but only b/c there is no guarantee that Holtby stays up or plays.

There is a case to be made for Holtby too. Just got his 2nd shutout in a row. With Varlamov injured, Holtby will stick around for awhile and with back-to-back shutouts, he'll likely start again and who knows, he could be starting more often than Boucher the rest of the year. Tough call, though.

Holtby looks like a stud when I've seen him play. Maybe I'm too high on him...

I could add Bernier to this list since I have Quick.

Tonight was his first career shutout. Last game he only played 40 minutes.

It's still a nice streak he has going however.

I personally like Holtby as a prospect; he might even be a full-time NHLer next year. I wonder often if Washington will re-sign Varly or just let him go this off-season via trade or an offer sheet signing. To me, Washington would be in similarly capable hands with a Neuvirth/Holtby combo next year as they were this year.

But if you are only concerned with the rest of this year, I just think Boucher gets more starts than Holtby this season.

If you can wait until Friday night to see who plays for Washington against Carolina, I think it will be a good Holtby indicator. Carolina always gives the Caps a much harder time than they should and if BB puts Holtby in against them and he does well, I think he might see a lot more starts the rest of the season.

Holtby only faced 22 shots tonight against Edmonton, but if he starts and does well against the Canes, I can see him and Neuvy sharing a lot of ice time and Varly going on long term IR.

Or of course, pick up one of the other guys.....I am not a great expert on goalies from other teams....yet.

I can't imagine Neuvirth will get the start on Friday after the shutout tonight. But I agree, if Holtby loses to the Canes and Neuvirth is healthy IMO Neuvirth will carry the brunt of the load from here on in. I just picked up Holtby for Friday since I could use the extra game. I don't expect to keep him long, but I do expect a game on Friday.

    Hmmm Boucher starting tonight.
Still considering Bernier. I think with only 2 moves left Holtby is too great a risk.

How many starts does Boucher get the rest of the season?

I need to make this choice before the game tonight and I've been working too much to have paid any attention to the games lately. Does Boucher get close to half the starts?

I think I'd go Boucher, but only because I think he gets more PT down the stretch. I honestly can't see BB hand over the reigns to Holtby this late in the season, especially since Neuvirth has been very good as well. I think once Neuvy gets healthy he'll once again become "the guy".

Holtby might be in a Hedberg type situation short-term. If he keeps winning, BB will probably keep putting him out there. Once Holtby loses, the job goes back over to Neuvy for the rest of the season.

I think Boucher gets more time because I'm not sure how confident the Flyers organization are in their rookie tender going into the postseason. They may want to give them both a good look before deciding who to roll with come playoff time.

Another win tonight for Holtby. Hmm, with 1 goal allowed in his last 3 games, there is no way he won't be starting again. The way I see it, if he can stay hot, he could be starting the majority of the Caps games down the stretch.
