Wow! What a way to flush a potentially awesome road trip into the shitter. I mean, 3 and 2 is pretty decent, but the losses to NJ and Buff were pretty awful.

    Anybody want to predict when?

Jacob Markstrom should get a start shortly for the Vancouver Canucks.
With Ryan Miller out of action for another three-five weeks, the Canucks have to get Markstrom some playing time. Eddie Lack gave up five goals on only 23 shots to lowly Buffalo on Thursday but coach Willie Desjardins may want to go back to Lack on Sunday to give him a boost of confidence. Markstrom was outstanding in the minors with a 1.95 GAA and a .932 save percentage 17-7-2 record with Utica.

Ill guess the games against the Yotes and Leafs maybe. The other games are too important being against division teams.

I'm back to thinking it's Lack's net tonight. If he plays well against the Blues who are playing back to back...he keeps his gig. I agree the Sharks game is huge next, but I really think they want to see what Markstrom is capable of and not let him get too rusty.

Eddie Lack will get the start in Sunday's game against the St. Louis Blues.
The 27-year-old is coming off a loss to Buffalo in which he allowed five goals on 23 shots. He has a 7-8-2 record with a 2.53 goals-against-average and a .916 save percentage.

It sucks losing to Buff and Arizona -- those teams don't even want wins!
If this teams misses by a point or two, it'll be the worst.

They were awful. Canucks seem to play to the level of their opponent, regardless of who they are.

If the Flames pass them for 2nd in the Pacific, it's gonna get ugly. Apparently CGY only needed 1 season to rebuild or those kids are just too dumb to know when to quit.

Canucks stole a point...only reason was Lack. That 1st period and OT were two of the worst periods I have ever witnessed. What a mess!

The Vancouver Canucks have bolstered their prospect system, signing over-age Edmonton Oil Kings captain Ashton Sautner to an entry level contract. Sautner is in the middle of a career season with the Oil Kings and was a big part of their Memorial Cup run last season.

Click past the jump for more info.

We know that over-age players don't usually stand a good chance of ever making an NHL impact, but defensemen are notoriously hard to project. Sautner has been an extremely effective player on a puck possession juggernaut the last couple of seasons to his credit, and is an interesting gamble for GM Jim Benning to make.

Adding Sautner doesn't cost the Canucks anything but salary, so there's no reason not to make this gamble if you like Sautner. We'll have more thoughts on this coming later.

    anyne now the scoop?

Alex Burrows will be scratched versus the Maple Leafs on Saturday night.
There appears to be growing speculation and fear that Burrows may have re-aggravated the lower body injury that forced him to miss six games earlier in the season. However, it's important to note that nothing is confirmed yet. Burrows has had a nice season with 12 goals, 25 points, 49 PIMs, and 60 hits through 56 games this season.

Ha. Burrows was signing autographs at London Drugs this afternoon. But no mention of any injury. Whatever it is, it can't be that serious.

What I'm wondering is who would come out of the lineup if Burrows returns Tuesday.
