We have 15 forwards, most of which are on one-way deals and waiver eligible (I think maybe 1 or 2 aren't or something), not to mention all the Marlies players. There aren't any free spots - they're all going to be fought for. I think that's the main intent behind that quote.

As for the Komarov PP time... well, sure there are a bunch of a guys ahead of him, but Lupul, Santorelli and Booth aren't known for their amazing health :P I'm sure he'll get maybe 10 or 20 games worth of PP2 time when all is said and done, with injuries and experimenting and whatnot.

    from twitter today:

Judging from #Leafs' practice, Colton Orr, Frazer McLaren and Korbinian Holzer are about to go on waivers at noon.

James Mirtle ‏@mirtle 36s36 seconds ago
Early indications from @jonasTSN1050 and others are Leafs cuts include Orr, McLaren, Holzer and Nylander. Which would be exactly right.

Good for Percy, Leivo and Kozun. Those three really had a good camp we'll see if they can continue their impressive play when the real season begins though.

So Leivo, Kozen, and maybe Frattin will be in a revolving door situation for 2 weeks to see who wins the job? And Percy will battle Robidais? Or wait in the waters till Franson is traded.

It'll be interesting to see what happens when Franson comes back.

Percy has played really well and looks to be a future top 4.

Also, Booth is on the IR so I don't know what will happen when he comes back either.

Booth will take over Kozun/Leivo spot I think. They have the top 6 as:
JVR –Bozy – Kessel (SOOOOO HAPPY ABOUT THAT)
    Kozun – Kadri – Lupul

Booth might slip into Clarkson’s role (3rd line) and Clarkson up into the 2nd line. However guys like Frattin, Komarov, Booth, Santorelli, and Clarkson have all played 2nd line and have produced. So the leafs do have that balanced attack this yr. Not a very strong one, but they now have 2 2nd lines almost.

They've probably been willing to part with Franson since forever, and with the emergence of Percy it might be easier to pull that one off.

I don't think Phaneuf, Gardiner (that 5 year commitment) or Rielly are going anywhere, and Polak and Robidas just got here. So who knows. Maybe Gardiner does get sent back with his buddy J. Schultz and we get one of those young forwards the EDM seem to harvest.

Or maybe it's just something minor, who knows...

Bad news for Kozun. He was one of the few bright spots in the bottom 6 to start the year, loved his hustle.

Wow, Leafs destroying Rask and the Bruins tonight! Two absolutely Philthy goals by Kessel and they've chased Rask after the fourth goal.
