It's more to do with I really like the Bert-AM-Domi line. And moving Domi down takes away what he can do best. Marner has always been able to drive lines, so him with Knies couuuulldd be good.

I'd test Marner on the 3rd line for 2 games and see how it works. 60min, expect 5penalties so lets say roughly 9min/game of not 5-on-5. So 51min allocated between the 4 lines. 4th line gets 5min-7min so 44-46min to spread out between the 3 lines. AM line gets 16min, JT gets 15min, Marner line gets 13-15min. Then obviously PP and PK time added in there.

Knowing Keefe tho Marner is on L1 instantly.

Woof! What did Nylander do? I HATE when teams spread out their talent to 3 lines. Make your 2 best lines and figure out the bottom 2 with whatever is left. Granted in Toronto's case, Treeliving signed players this year that didn't make line construction easy for Keefe.

I don't mind it for now. Test it out. You know how loading it up looks, why not run a couple of games this way to also ease in Marner, and if it works you also dial back JT a bit if you think the JT line is actually a 3rd line.

Over the years and disaster playoffs, there is a thought out there that leafs need better goaltending to win when matters, but fact is they need more scoring. If you go back and look, they lost a lot of low scoring games cause when big boys didnt score there was nobody at all. I like this move, if anybody can make those 2 provide offence is Willy, he has been the best leaf at carrying the play and creating for others of the rush (obviously inside the zone set up its Marner). I have no clue if this will work but i like that they are trying. That first line is working great, Marner usually brings out best in JT and if Nylander can make that line go, this can only be good.

but fact is that at first sign of any scoring struggle, lines gets shifted again...Kefee said other day that he likes his lineup to be fluid... right or wrong.

I guess. Listening the PDOCast today they were discussing how teams are just trying things now so if that is the case with Toronto it makes sense. This team really needed a competent 3C since Domi cannot be relied on defensively in the playoffs. I think the Leafs need to split up Matthews and Marner and keep Domi with Matthews. Put Kampf at 3C with Jarnkrok making it a defensive line. Something like:
Matthews, Domi, Bertuzzi
Tavares, Marner, Nylander
Kamf, Jarnkrok, Dewar
Holmberg, Reaves, Knies

This would give you 2 scoring lines that have to dominate and play heavy minutes. A 3rd line you could give hard minutes to and a 4th line that you give no more than 8 minutes a night to. Oh yeah, and figuring out the defensive pairings is a challenge as well. Is there any top 10 team in the league that has such a flawed roster?
