Okay boys, we won. All is swell. Wasn't too pretty, but I'll take it.

    Quick Hits:

    - Kessel had a spring in his step, but missed two breakaways

    - Macarthur got the monkey off of his back. First of the year in style, eventual GWG.

    - Gardiner (yet again) proved his worth, recording an assist in over 20 minutes of play.

-Lupul goal, assist by Gardiner. Thanks for that deal Anaheim!

-Komisarek is too average to be earning 4.5 a season.

-Gustavsson is shaky at times, but shows flashes of brilliant. Too inconsistent for my liking. Rebounds need control.

    - Connolly was alright in his first game, made some nice passes and big in front of the net.

    - Mike Brown fought (brutally beat down upon) Kris Newbury

    - Mike Brown scored a beautiful wrister from inside the blueline, top cheddar

    - Mike Brown killed off the last minute of play

    - Mike Brown is amazing. Thanks Anaheim!

Mike Brown also should not have shaved his stache

But nice to see we won. I expected the usual "Plant in front of Lundqvist". Guess not.

Poor Kessel didn't score a goal, but he did get an assist.

And Connolly lives on to see another game... thank those who can work miracles.

Komi has been one of our better defenders since being benched.

I said this a week ago.

A month ago, I wanted him scratched for the season.

Connolly impressed me with a few of his rushes.....Was able to carry the puck in, slow the rush down, and dish it off to a streaming winger/defender on multiple occasions

Alright guys, I managed to get a buddy to take me to the game, and it was absolutely nuts! Great win, here are my ramblings:

-Gustavsson earned my respect. In no way do I want him to be the #1 Goalie, but when he needs to be clutch he can be. Great saves (Including his glove on Sullivan, Pad save on Neal) kept the Leafs in it.

-Welcome to the Maple Leafs Tim Connolly! Fantastic game

-Phil Kessel is all-powerful. Need I say more?

-Dupuis played like crap. Took a costly penalty, had an inability to clear the puck, and was just plain bad.

    -Steckel's seen better games too

-Macarthur is back. 1 goal and 1 assist tonight, Mac finally has found his groove

-Grabovski is one crafty SOB. Really speedy

    -Schenn played well, very consistent

-The Crowd went Bonkers for Mats Sundin tonight. At least a 2 minute standing "O" absolutely incredible

So, guess I'll update. I suppose TK's still in this comatose after the loss to the Sens.

    - Frattin was assigned to the Marlies yesturday (Kadri was assigned a while ago for those who did not know), Crabb came up. Probably slots in as a 3rd line winger/4th line winger. Despite him being used with Kessel last year, I don't expect it this season. He was pretty effective if memory serves, and should serve well by adding another experienced (to some degree) PK presence. He also was (last I checked) 2nd in the AHL in points (15 in 9 games, 7g, 8a). Who's 1st, you ask? Why, none other then Joe Colborne (8g, 8a - 16) who is tied with AHL vet Keith Aucoin (3g, 13a) in points and 6 other players with his 8 goals.

    - Also, news today is that Gardiner is injured. I'm struggling to find exactly what it is, but he's not playing tonight, meaning it's very likely Franson goes in.

    - Nice little tidbit after Kessel won Player of the Month - he was the first leaf in 18 years (Felix Potvin exactly 18 years ago, apparently, was the last one)to get the award. I thought Sundin had it in the late months back in 2006 or around then when he came out blitzing out in the last few months. Guess memory failed me.
Anyhow, someone wrote it on the whiteboard, and the first thing Kessel did when he saw it - wipe it off.

Good news : This is an exiting game.

Problem : Leafs defensive game proves to suck.

Bad news : I have both Gus adn Brodeur in one league. Byebye goalie cats.

    7 goals on 24 shots?

Gardiner is still a little rough around the edges but man can he play! His offensive instincts are great and the defensive side is coming around. He's made fantastic plays tonight including both his assists, I'm really enjoying watching him play
