signing Leafs unsigned Jack Walker worked out real well for Minn... to get a 7th for a guy we were just going to let go and took in the 5th two years ago... I'll take it. So many of these prospects go unsigned. This seems rare. Especially considering Mascherin last year.

Hearing the Leafs and Kings have talked about a potential Patrick Marleau trade. Obviously there’s the Todd McLellan connection there for Marleau so he might waive. But as of now I don’t think the two teams have found a fit. Kings would need to unload a contract or two as well...

What prospect would Tor have to send to make that happen? Bracco?

Sounds too good to be true. I can't imagine a logical reason why any team in their right mind would want to inherit Marleau's contract at this stage in his career.

A rebuilding team - take on salary to obtain extra assets. Marleau has 1yr left - 6m to add a really good young prospect - if you have the cap space - you should do it.

They don't really have a whole lot of space.

However, a Marleau (retain 2mill) + pick for Lewis (2mill cap hit) = Lewis + 2.75mill in cap space for Toronto.

How about a Marleau for Dion??? Eh? Eh? ~crickets~ No? Ok.

Here I was thinking Bracco & Marleau for Toffoli or something like that

I think it will definitely take Bracco to move Marleau's contract. And I would do it if I'm Dubas. No retention on Marleau though.

I like Zaitsev so much more now. His comments on Don Cherry (who is rumoured as one of the reasons why he wants out of Toronto) were amazing.
I’m amused that clowns like Cherry have a very big emphasis in our country as real experts. What he says) will immediately be on the websites, as if this is a serious person of some kind.

It was probably even more harsh than that too originally.

If he wants out of Toronto because certain media members do not like him and criticize his play, then he's even soften than I thought. Why should he even care what Don Cherry has to say about him and his play. If his abilities were without question, Cherry wouldn't have to.

Don Cherry criticizes A LOT of players. He needs to get over it and just play hockey. He's making a lot of money to do just that. Go earn it and stop worrying about the media.

Zaitsev is not the only player that doesn't like Don Cherry. Steve Dangle commented on a time he was asking players to wish DC a happy birthday for a special and some players didn't want to, and he specifically mentioned how there was 2 stars who didn't want to. One was Russian, one was French Canadian.

I don't think DC is the reason why Zaitsev is leaving, but he would get annoying getting constantly ripped on, and your name not even pronounced correctly. I'm sure Zaitsev gets asked questions about Don Cherry often too.
