Also thought Kadri's comments after the game were some of the most mature he's ever made - about this being a growing experience and a huge lesson.. the bag skate in the dark today was another lesson.

leafs have had too many 7-0 spankings in the past... I feel like they can actually - for real this time - learn something from it.

LA came out to make a clear statement that the Leafs are still kids, and this is what a grizzled NHL team looks like.

I didn’t catch much of the game because I was at a bar to watch it, but it got out of hand and we switched over to watching the election before the end of the 2nd. But from what I saw, you see the size weakness and how Toronto just wasn’t outskating LAK. That’s the only way they can win against a bigger team, and they just didn’t have their legs moving. They couldn’t get anything inside for a high percentage goal scoring opportunity, and LAKs D just let them shoot from far out.

LA controlled the whole middle of the ice. From goalie to goalie.

Anyways, it's in the past. Hopefully they ate some of that humble pie and are ready to go for tomorrow. If I were a betting man (I don't really gamble on sports) I'd bet the Leafs win tomorrow. Babcock should have they roaring to go. He made them skate in the dark when the lights went out at practice!

They’ve all seen Miracle. They know how bad they were. This should motivate them. Until Saturday….

I hope he does. He'll clearly have more of an opportunity. Who would you have played him over in our lineup?

Also, great game today. Marner is our Patty Kane. Hes so good.

Rielly, Zaitsev, Gardiner...and Carrick as our 6-7...........Hunwick, Marincin, Polak, Corrado, need to go.

I would have tested him out with Matthews/Nylander. Hyman-Smith-Martin as the 4th line. Give Seth a chance so to speak when he was on the roster.

I also don’t mind Polak for a 1yr, obviously he’s not our future at all, but he likely brings something behind the scenes and isnt he a gym rat so to speak? So maybe he pushes guys? The key is he’s no where near their future plans. He’s this yr and done.

I’d add in Andrew Nielsen who’s doing very well in the Marlies as a future D-man. This guy is taking the same path as Weber but instead of going WHL to NHL after an extra season in the WHL, Nielsen is in the AHL, and doing well. 9pts, 12games, (-1),

Nielsen has looked great in the couple Marlies games I watched.

Still young and we'll see what happens with him.

We still need a number #2-3 defender.

Would love the Leafs to unload some assets for Shattenkirk and then try to resign him.

I wonder how much Burns is going to command this off-season as a UFA. He's going to get paid....big time.

As much as it pains me to say to avoid a top player in FA, I’m not stepping near that old of a player who’s gonna get a crap ton. Same with Shattenkirk, only because he could just jump ship pretty easily.

The Leafs do seem to need to lump together a few low prospects for an NHL player. Zaitsev seems to be turning into that No2 D which came as a nice surprise. Gardiner is a No4 (maybe No5) D PP specialist it seems. So we need that 2nd liner to play with him. Polak, Maricin, Corrado, and Hunwick aren’t doing anything to stay in the lineup. Carrick he needs to get bigger or faster. He’s not fast enough for his size, and not big enough for his speed. I really like him with the puck, I think he could turn out as a solid PP2 D, but something needs to give on the defensive side, but he is still 22. If he doesn’t change, he may be going down the Brennan path of AHL star, NHL bust. Like Carrick had 18pts in 15playoff games last yr with the Marlies.

... or we can KEEP all our prospects, continue to develop our young talent, gain another high draft pick, and remain disciplined with the rebuild plan we've committed to and are currently executing.

The only thing adding Shatty or other free agents will do is bump us down several draft picks while STILL missing the playoffs. Doesn't sound very smart to me.

Focus on the long game fellas

I’m saying lumping a Leivo, Corrado, and so on level of guys to get maybe a slightly better guy. The Grabner trade is an example. I’m not saying to trade top prospects and developing players for someone who will just leave. The way the Leafs prospect/roster is going, we’ll lose guys.

If you look at the Leafs prospect pool, it’s crazy deep with “could be good, could not be” type players. Leipsic, Johnson, Dermott, Timashov, Bracco, Kapanen , Lindberg, Valiev, Nielsen, Loov, and Leivo..

I’m not saying trade your top players for a top older player to speed it up. I’m saying do a trade to open roster space without greatly altering your future (Grabner trade)/.
