With Kadri signed for several years, you think they're grooming Nylander to play center?
Any scenario where you see him staying on the wing with Matthews?

I think it's more likely he stays on the wing.

He definitely will be a center in the future.

He's a natural center and played there all of last year with the Marlies (his first year with the Marlies he played wing (slowly bringing him along, like what Babcock wants) and led the league in points before his call up to the Leafs where, again, he played center cause of the injuries down the middle.

Babcock has said he didn't want to start Nylander at center, but with the injuries he had no other choice. Finally, this year he can put him on the wing.

A quote from Babcock last year.....

But because of injuries at the position Mike Babcock doesn’t really have much of a choice currently with one of the team’s top prospects.

“Who would play in the middle?” Babcock said of moving Nylander to the wing after a Tuesday afternoon practice. “That was my plan and I had this great plan and it looked good on a napkin. That was what I was going to do with him for sure because it’s way easier.

“This is a different situation,” he added. “We don’t have centres.”
    Found this interesting also....

Nylander's NHL cameo as a centre was really, really successful.
Nylander scored 1.73 primary points / 60 at 5v5 last year, which is not only first line territory, but ranked 33rd leaguewide, among players who played more than 200 5v5 minutes (per Corsica.hockey). And his on-ice shooting percentage was a paltry 6.77%; while his personal shooting percentage was quite elevated (15.4%), his linemates shot the puck like Colton Orr.
Nylander is serving his time on the wing. Getting accustomed to the duties of a winger first before he takes on the big leap of center. Same as Galchenyuk and many young natural rookie centerman do.

I think Babcok for sure sees him as a future centermen.

In Babcock’s perfect world, he wants all his centers (at least the top 2 or 3) to be wingers and centers. He likes line juggling/matching. To begin a shift last night he had Matthews, Bozak, and Brown on a line. I am pretty sure Matthews took the draw too.

Nylander is going to be both a center and a winger.

Agreed. And it'll switch according to home/away and the other teams lineup, but I think he'll be primarily a center.

    Enroth waived.

Ramo might get a shot with the Leafs

Ramo still needs clearance to play from his sprained knee, but that’s a technicality at this point. Enroth will have his contract terminated likely so he can go play in Europe and not take up space on the Marlies, and free up room for Ramo.

I know it’s not like Enroth played well, but he definitely didn’t get chances, pretty much only played the one game of back-to-backs, and had that blowout where nothing was going right for Enroth. But I prefer a healthy Ramo to Enroth, if anything it’s horizontal move.

Yeah, I feel bad for Enroth that all he got to show himself was four starts. The only thing that makes it a bit better is he was unsigned late into the summer so it is not like he turned down other teams to play with the Leafs.

Probably 2-3 years before Nylander starts seeing full time C responsibilities (that's how long it took Galchenyuk). Kadri will be 28-29 then and will play the 2C-B/3C role extremely well. Future is looking bright

Kadri (sick) won't suit up tonight.

Nylander to center Sosh and Komarov. He started every game on their recent western canada road trip at center BTW

Leivo to debut on the 4th line (with Martin and Smith)....and will see some PP time with Matthews Nylander and Komarov.
