Worried about the relationship with their 2 goalies??? They are absolutely brutal. If anything talking to Nabokov's camp should give Ellis and Smith a kick in the arse. Not sure it will or should take "weeks" unless the Christmas holidays plays a factor.

There is certainly no guarantee that free agent goaltender Evgeni Nabokov will sign a contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Despite what seems to be a natural fit between the two sides, the Lightning may be concerned that Tampa will have to expose Nabokov to waivers once they agree to a deal and if he were to be claimed, Tampa's relationship with their current goaltenders would be damaged. Expect GM Steve Yzerman to negotiate with Nabokov's agent Don Meehan over the coming weeks to see if an agreement can be reached.

Over 6,500 views of this thread, unreal. I managed to pick him up in my keeper last week. Doubt we'll hear anything until the new year..........

    TBL just sign him already.......

The Globe and Mail's Eric Duhatschek had an interesting point on this. If Svatos couldn't make it through waivers how would Nabokov get through?

    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sport...rticle1852025/

Personally I think the only way for a team to sign him and keep him is if the deal is more then one year and decent money. Like $2.75 per season for 2 or 3 years. Much less likely for a lot of teams to take that risk on. It would make it so only teams with long-term goalie needs would be interested and should remove those team looking for 'insurance' from claiming him.

So Rolo signs in TB....does that leave Nabby on the shelf for the season?

There's a slight chance someone will scoop him up for the playoffs, but I doubt he gets starters minutes anywhere at this point. I'd drop him in 1 year leagues.

    question for the cba experts

could the islanders sign him to a 2 year deal (finish off this year + sign for next year)and trade him in the coming offseason without repurcussions ?

i.e --would he have to hit waivers if they tried to move him this offseason

He has to clear waivers before he plays an NHL game. Simple as that

this is the latest thing i have read on Nabokov, from Dmitry Chesnokov

    dchesnokov Dmitry Chesnokov by wyshynski
Nabokov's Russian agent says after Roloson was claimed by Tampa, he doesn't think Nabby will play this season as he only had the Tampa offer

I guess the talk of a couple of teams contacting him (Nabokov's agent) was just to try and get tampa to bite.

Look to the Isles to make a move on Nabby.

    Thumbs up

I am looking for any insight to that rumour. Trust me I know Eklund is not reliable.

I've been hearing this or that about Nabokov for a few weeks, but sadly it probably all stems from Eklund.

Even if Nabokov signed with the Islanders I'm not sure how much value he would have.
