Hmm interesting. I have always liked Franzen on Datsyuk's wing and Fil played well on Zetterberg's wing. But I guess we'll see what happens.

Helm and Bertuzzi are in tonight.

    Filppula-Datsyuk-Bertuzzi
    Franzen-Z-Brunner
    Cleary-Helm-Abdelkader
    Tootoo-Emmerton-Miller

    Kindl is also back tonight.

Detroit played their game tonight and looked really good against Minnesota. Johan Franzen clearly learned a lot from Tomas Holmstrom and wreaked havoc in front of the net tonight. Pavel Datsyuk led the Wings with a goal and two assists, Valtteri Filppula had three points, Todd Bertuzzi chipped in with two goals. Henrik Zetterberg had two points, while Brendan Smith only had one but was a plus-3 and looked great tonight. Damian Brunner scored his 2nd career NHL goal as well.

Zach Parise did his best, scoring two goals for Minny. Mikael Granlund made an unreal pass to Tom Gilbert, who sniped his first of the season on the power play for Minnesota. Gilbert drew an assist on Parise's second goal of the night, as did Wild captain Mikko Koivu. Jonas Brodin tallied an assist in his first career NHL game, he's an impressive kid. Looked like he belongs in the NHL right now.

Jimmy Howard battled all game and made some tremendous saves to help out the Wings fortunes.

21 penalty minutes is not something you want on a regular basis. The crowd was into it, as Journey's "Don't Stop Believin" was playing. Singing along, "JUST A CITY BOY, BORN AND RAISED IN SOUTH DETROIT." "HE TOOK THE MIDNIGHT TRAIN GOING ANYWHERE."

Awesome atmosphere and a great game.

    5-3 Detroit.

Next up: Detroit squares off against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday night.

Hard for them to score when they were on the PK most of the period. I thought Detroit played a pretty solid first period despite the number of penalties they took. Their PK was awesome (it helped that Dallas' powerplay sucked). Also Lehtonen was awesome.

I picked up Brunner the other day and I"m loving what I'm seeing. The guy is just relentless out there. I just wish he'd stop missing the net.

Yep I have liked what I have seen so far. He has made some bad decisions with the puck but seems to be learning from his mistakes.

Speaking of Kindl, is he worth a pick up now that Smith is hurt? Jonathan Ericsson is also on the wire, and I gotta get rid of Leopold.

Are either of those guys worth it? David Savard is the other option now that Wiz is hurt

    Thanks!

I don't see White on the top unit. Once Samuelsson comes back I think he fits in there.
