Like you, don't hate it nor love it. I will be extremely disappointed though if the he sticks with the same coaching stafff (Bucky, Smith).

By the sounds of it (just listened to presser) doesn't sound like he's planning on any changes.

Thank the heavens, we've been saved from the Wideman and by our hated rivals to south no less!

No comments yet on the Oilers landing Justin Schultz? Obviously good for the Oilers, but I'm more happy about the simple fact that they were actually able to sign a free agent!

I think most Oiler fans were pretty sure it was happening a while ago, but it's a good thing at the very least.

Gager+pieces for another top 4 defenseman would be excellent, and then sign a FA centreman to replace Gagner.

    But who knows.

The only moves that seemed clear (Yakupov/Schultz) are now done so beyond that I have no certainty any longer.

I just acquired Jeff Petry as a toss in as part of a deal.

What can I expect from him this year? Kinda see him as a sneaky sleeper for 30+points.

    Am I close?

I've been scooping him up in every league I can. He was our best defenceman down the stretch and picked up 8 points in the last 10 games. I'm expecting 30+ next year.

I love it...I was hoping he'd sign, but I was worried some other team would snag him.

The pieces are slowly coming together.

I think our biggest need now is a big bodied #2 centre, which hopefully we can add via trade (package Gagner and Hemsky??).

I have dreams of them somehow getting Bobby Ryan, but I don't see it happening.

What other Centres are available via trade or free agency??

Another top 4 dman would be nice too, but I think we can get by for now with the dmen we have. The biggest missing piece, imo, is the #2 centre.

I'm also assuming (hoping) that Dubnyk is up to the task.

actually, what about Mueller? Anyone think he'd be a good fit as the #2 centre? High-risk, high reward.

Peronally, I'd like someone who can be physical, which obviously he can't, but there are worse options out there, and he'd come cheap.

Sweet! any chance he plays top PP with Schultz? I assume Whitney will get top PP and Petry will get 2nd duty. He was a bit of a toss in, so I didn't know tons about him, but am liking it more and more. Is he an offensive guy, or a solid 2 way type with above average offense?

It might be a little crazy, but I wouldn't mind seeing Hall at centre, and then finding a LW. I'd like to see something like this:

    1A) ? - Nuge - Eberle
    1B) Hartikainen - Hall - Yakupov
    3) Smyth - Horcoff - Hemsky
    4) Eager - Belanger - Jones
    Hordichuk, Petrell

There are some issues with this though: Gagner is gone, who could they get as a top 6 LW, is Hartikainen NHL ready, and can Hall slide into centre?

    Intriguing line-up though.

The problem with that idea is that Mueller hasn't played center for years and years.
    GO WINGS!
