Edmonton Oilers defense prospect Martin Marincin has been traded to the Regina Pats.

He's slotted to play 2nd PP time
@NHL_Oilers: #Oilers now working on PP: 1st unit - Smyth, Horcoff, Hemsky, Hall, Potter 2nd unit - Petry, Jones, Belanger, Gagner, Paajarvi”
The team is a lock for a lottery pick again this year and I would be stunned if Tambellini is still at the helm next season.
Lining up alongside Belanger at 5x5 and seocndary PP time = not a reward.
I'd like to cut them even more slack than that. We know they suck on the road and before Eberle, Gilbert and Nuge went down they were in the midst of a brutal stretch playing 10 of their last 12 on the road. We knew going in that this stretch would be key. Obviously they stumbled hard going 2-10-0 over those 12 games falling hard. Before that stretch they were a mediocre but competitive 14-12-3. If they could have escaped those injuries I think they'd have been alright following this long road stretch.
The positive is they are coming home on to play on Wednesday and have 23 home games remaining vs. 18 road games. If they start to mail it in on home ice I'll get upset. Otherwise, this is just part of being a young team.
Oh and Penner being gone sure is a big help. I cannot tell you how much of an enraged fan I was from like 2007-2009 about the direction of the team.
I will say this. Though there are lots of people who are down on Sam Gagner, he has been very good even whike the team has struggled through it's weak stretch of hockey. Almost a PPG over the last 20.
Gregor had an interesting article on him today.
