I'm not sure they need an upgrade in goal - upgrading the D and getting the right mix of puck movers and bashers will help the defensive game. Where is Chiarelli going to find 2-3 quality Dmen? If they are quality Dmen, their current teams have no interest in trading them for "Oiler junk" or if they are UFA, there are several other teams interested in their services and they would much rather go anywhere but Edmonton. Tough sell at the moment. This isn't going to be an overnight transition from complete shit team to playoff contender. Most Oiler fans realize this and are willing to be patient.



Is RNH as good or better than Ryan Johansen? I would say no, due to Johansen's enticing combination of size and scoring ability (at least that's what the girls say). If Oiler brass thinks Trouba is worth a shot, then I say it's worth a shot. Not too long ago, Trouba was (or maybe still is?) untouchable in trade talks.

I don't know anyone who closely follows the Oilers who thought they would move a large asset today. That's a draft or summer move.

It was more of a joke, but who would take RNH right now? He’s hurt, and has quite the contract. The team that would take him at the deadline from a non-playoff team would be a non-playoff team. Edmonton would want picks/young D, and a non-playoff team isn’t doing that.

Turn to a playoff team, not many playoff “sure ins” aren’t in the need of a 6mill center because either they have 2 solid Centers, or they do not have 6mill in space for a 2nd line center (because that’s what he’d be on a playoff team right now).

Little surprised Yak wasn’t traded, but maybe they feel like they can package him up with someone and either move them during the draft or wait to raise their value next season. Yak’s value = 2nd - 3rd round during this deadline.
