He's a solid prospect for them. I'm curious as to what this team does as a whole as they need a major retooling. Beaulieu is one I hope to see stick around as I love seeing the bright new future players take that step.

I really don't think they need to rush this guy.
They have Subban, Markov and Kaberle to run things offensively from the back end. (God I cringe when type "Kaberle").

Raphael Diaz and Emelin are also decent puck movers.
Beaulieu should have at least a year in Hamilton to develop.

The last thing the habs need to do is ruin the best prospect in their system. Furthermore, as a fan, I don't want them to improve too much haha. I'd be fine with another pick in the top 5 for the 2013 draft.

Markov still plays? Oh that's right, he does when he's healthy. You might need him up more than you realize.

That's why I mentioned the short trial run. Same thing happened with Scheifele last year. He looked ready in preseason, had a short run, and he showed he was not ready for full time NHL so he was demoted.

I don't think so, although if there's an injury or a roster hole after summer spendings then it's possible that he tags along as a 6/7 dman. I just don't see any upside there. He's already 26 and hasn't really stood out in any way. He's a solid depth guy, but I think he's more AHL material.

Now that Bob Hartley is new head coach in CGY - official release momentarily - MTL job is down to Michel Therrien or Marc Crawford.

If I were a Habs fan, I wouldn't like this at all. Hartley, in my opinion, is far better option than either of those guys. Especially Crawford is someone I'm not impressed at all.

If you go with Therrien, atleast we'll see some more of this:

The talent pool of available coaching candidates is much more shallow than the pool of available GMs. Are there better coaching alternatives out there?

I don't follow Junior Hockey at all, so I don't know. But I'm suprised we don't hear speculations about some of these guys.

What about Pascal Vincent, whose name has come up in the past? Not saying the guy would be any good, as I frankluy don't know him from Adam. Just saying I would have expected his name to come up.

FYI, RDS and La Presse both report Roy has been met and is expected to be met again.

I'd rather see them give a Junior of AHL coach a chance on 2 year contract. Wouldn't cost much and it will be important that the new coach has experience with a younger team. I'd like to see Eric Veilleux (Shawinigan) come on as AC.

Roy is just a loose canon it seems. Temper.

Roy is also a lot like Brian Burke in a sense that he loves attention. I don't know if I want that from the coach, especially one that is so unproven.

On the other hand, a guy who can act like a lightning rod and deflect some of the attention and intense media pressure away from his players and onto himself may not be such a bad thing in market like Montreal.

That works when you're backing up your long rants. Winning cures everything. Losing exposes everything.
